I'm not too familiar with acoustics, but try checking out Yamaha and Art & Lutherie. I've enjoyed my experiences with both and you can find both for fairly cheap.

Some Seagull acoustics might fall into that price range.
They're worth checking into.

I'll also have to agree that Yamaha makes exceptional acoustic guitars at that price range. Definitely consider them.

Seagulls are good. They have a unique tone, and have chunky necks.

I still say the best acoustic for the money is the Yamaha FG700MS.

Solid Top, Decent Tuners, and the matte finish really opens up the tone closer to a all solid wood guitar.

Yamaha and Cort are good brands, I'd check them out! :D
There is also an Italian brand called EKO (Hendrix played some EKOs back in the years, and they also built some VOX wah-wahs) which makes a cheap guitar for 400€ that has a great sound.. in fact if I have to buy an acoustis, I'd buy this one, it's the Massimo Varini model. :D

Got an acoustic a couple of months back, for £350. Freshman 2OC. It's REALLY good, I love it. I would certainly reccomend Freshman, I don't know what their other models are like, but the one I have should definately be worth considerably more than what I paid for it.
