How much did all this awesomness set you back so far? (if you don't mind me asking).

About $350-$450 so far…this guitar will probably cost around $500-$600 to build.
Kahlers are not cheap… :?
There is not much left to do, the hard part will be getting paint, making a logo and to make this:

Back when I made my signature, I made a logo similar to that (all black) that I could add 3D effects to.

Maybe you can find a good use for it.

WOW!

Thanks a lot this will save me A LOT of time designing it!!! :D

It looks exactly the same as Paul’s.

Do you maybe have a larger size than the one you posted?

If not I appreciate this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW do you know if Paul’s was Painted or a Sticker? :?

It's not an image, download one of the vectors formats. If you like I could upload them all separately?

I just downloaded Vector Magic.
It seems to smooth out images.

Judging by Paul's mania, Id say the RX on his guitar was a sticker.

He's had:

"I suck but I've got cool hair" on his PGM 300

APPLAUSE on the PGM 100

Random numbers on his PGM 200 prototype (used on Yellor Matter Custard)

Stars on the Ghostrider

a number 2 on his Ibanez Les Paul for the Amazing Journey concerts

PLUS

Scott said they went to a hardware store and made the Racer X letters for the NAMM show (on Scott's bass drums).

That's all I can recall right now...

I finally got the Pink Paint for my Epi today!!! :D :D :D

I was actually surprised how close to the Epi it was! 8)

Here is the proof!

As for the RX Logo, looking at some pics, I am concerned that is NOT a sticker...if you look at the GW 1988 pic and the TD 1999 the Logo is not even scratched so it must have been painted and lacquered.

Unless someone here know exactly how it was applied I believe it was painted... :?

+1

Plus at the TD pictures, maybe there's some photo editing to it.

If you watch the Mr Big DVD Live in San Francisco, you'll see Paul play that guitar on Baba O Riley, and for a couple of seconds, the RX sticker/paintjob appears.

As far as I can remember, it really looked like a sticker.

BTWm have you tried e-mailing Paul about this?

I don't think they would go about re-touching the guitar wear…Paul's guitars are usually in good condition anyway.

I had a look at the MR BIG Live In San Francisco 1992 DVD, here is the best screenshot I could find:

Image

There is no way of telling anything, apart from that the trem cover is off, if the logo is a sticker or paint or worn...there is a gray/green area above the cavity but I can't imagine what that is...unless it's the plate flipped over? :?

BTW I PM'ed Paul, see if he answers, he hasn’t been on in months and with NAMM coming up I don’t think I’ll hear from him.

Is there any other way I can contact him??? :?

I don't think he read his PMs.

e-mail him at his paulvsgodzilla @ paulgilbert.com with a catchy subject like:

"Building pink Epi replica - 1 question"

From all these years trying to reach Paul, I realized most the e-mails he replied to me were short and objective. Try it that way.

Time for an update!!! :P

I thought I’d show you guys how the RX Logo thing is coming along.

This is still a prototype, but the final one will be similar in size.

I will need to make a custom back plate too [If any one knows where I can get some plastic sheets for it please let me know!]

Well here it is:

Thanks to JulianDoom for providing the logo! :D
