Post Is This Type Of Guitar Possible??
So I was thinking in the near future I wanted to invest in a CUSTOM guitar. And at first, I was thinking maybe I should get a custom Carvin 7 string...and I'm still considering it. They're fucking beautiful.

HOWEVER, I also had a wackier idea. Is there any way I can find someone who can build me this:

So my idea is I want a guitar in the shape of a Telecaster body and headstock. However I don't want it to sound anything like a Telecaster. I just like the look and feel of it. I also want it to be a SEVEN STRING with a kahler bridge tremolo (or whatever tremolo stays in tune and I can still change tunings without having to do an autopsy on the guitar like I do with a floyd rose) and high-output pickups with 24 frets. Is this possible and how much will this run me money-wise?

i dont see why it couldnt be done. But it would probably be more pricey to get it built then getting the carvin.

yeah something like that i guess but with a maple fretboard and a HSH configuration...and in the typical yellow telecaster color.

i just checked out your site, i had no idea you have a custom guitar shop. is that tele one of your creations and if so, what is the ballpark figure for something like that.

ah, sorry for teh confusion, I understand why and i shoudl have said..

I didnt make this one, its something that a customer has already asked me for..
and I cant blame him, tele's take on a whole new look with that extra string.

as for costs, I really dont know without full spec but you can count on it being in the £1500+ ish ballpark

well is there a form i can fill out to spec you a potential 'Tele' or should i just make a list to fill out. The reason why id rather have a form is in case i forget something.

the cutaway on a 24 fret tele has got to be pretty deep to get to those frets...

with that being said, that'd be a kickass guitar and something i'd definitely wanna see!

It's absolutely possible. Telecasters get a lot of their tone from the bridge plate/saddle/bridge pickup configuration. The way all of those pieces work together play a huge role in how a Telecaster sounds.

If you don't want that sort of sound, you just eliminate that part of the design.
