Post Middle Pickup Problem
So my middle single coil was a huge handicap, because it was very uncomfortable to pick with the pickup that high. So I tightened the screws, but it didn't go down all the way thru :?

here's a quick blurry pic. this is the deepest it can go.

should I cut the screws? cuz I want it to be level with the body.

You should be loosening the screws to lower the pickup,

sometimes, the wiring underneath the pickup, and also the size of the pickup, means that the pickup wont go flush against the pickguard.

But no, you dont want to cut the screws, that will do the opposite of what you want it to do, as the lowest point the pickup will go will be higher than if you leave the screws as they are. (i hope that makes sense)

sorry, I meant loosening

I get what you're trying to say. when I wrote that, I thought it was acting like a pickup with a pickup ring. I'll check the wiring.

maybe the problem is not just the pickup height but your picking technique?
you shouldn't really dig that deep into the strings

just wait a few days and your picking will have changed to not hitting the middle pickup while strumming

I'm getting used to it, but not only that. the sound is gonna be cleaner if it's deeper. that's actually the main resaon.

I don't get the grg guys.

Anyway, you should see my middle pick-up, it's waayyy past the pickguard that it appears sunken  I always hit it whenever I pick, so I put it as low as I can. I never use the middle pick-up anyway. Actually, who the hell uses it?

I use mine all the time for out-of-phase clean hendrix/SRV-ish tones. Dont know why really when I have a perfectly good strat sat right next to me. I only ever use the mid pup on my Strat for Wind Cries Mary or Robin Trower tone.

Oh, I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear  I meant, most shredder guitars. I use the 2 and 4 positions, but never the middle pick-up alone. I thought it ate up most of my attack. That, plus since it's really low, it barely picks up sound. If I put it any higher, I'd be hitting it.

I thought strat middle coils are useful though. But I still can't use them :(

My neck and middle pickup are about 1mm above being flush with the pickguard. Never noticed that I did that

Ibanez puts foam under the humbuckers. There might be foam under the single which will prevent it from going all the way down.
Take off the strings and pull the pickup out and check it
