Cheers for that! It's interesting on the back page reading the list of endorsers...
Quote:
"this list was compiled from warranty cards and dealer interviews and does not constitute an endorsement"

So Angus Young buys an MP-1 on the sly just to mess around with, like any sensible man he sends his warranty card in... and next thing he knows, he's on the endorsees list in the ADA magazine!

I think Paul has a lot of his pedals modded. Especially the Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress Flanger, I've had one of these pedals for ages and when I turn the color and range all the way up I still don't get anywhere near his super flanged up sound on "hurry up." I think he had some of the same mods he had to his ADA flanger or something as to get these CRAZY Flanger noises. I wonder what else he has modded in live rig 8)

As far as I can make out the Electric Mistress is not modded...

I have a stock Electric Mistress and it can do the "Hurry Up" sound perfectly, are you sure you're setting the rate low enough? You only get that Van Halen-y sound for half the sweep so you need to make sure the speed is slow enough to catch that...

Also if Paul's pedal is modded then why wouldn't he also try and get the noise modded on it? I know that the Electric Mistress is a very noisey pedal, the sweep is quite loud and you get a pretty big buzzing sound with the pedal on with any amount of distortion. Paul uses a EQ pedal for the clean parts where he needs the flanger to cut down on the noise so why wouldn't he a try and get rid of the noise in the mod?

Oodles doesn't think it's modded. *nods*

I can get PRETTY close... Maybe it's just how it sounds in my room... It is VERY close to the Hurry Up "crazy flange" sound but....idk? Maybe I just have bad ears or something? Others have said it's almost the exact same, when I put the appropriate settings? I think it's just me, but Paul's still sounds a bit more "Flangy?" to me.

Ohhhh, I just had thought.

I always use a booster pedal (Boss DS-1) right after the Mistress when I play Hurry Up but if you use a lot of distortion from your amp you should also get it.

In other words...

CRANK THE GAIN!

I have to agree, and at the same time ask what he was using? I didn't find any info in this thread.

I didn't say anything about his rack, I said his TONE. Admittedly, it wasn't THAT bad but it wasn't too great imo. But whatever, that's the not the point of this thread.

I think we can all agree that his Superheroes tone was the best of all.

PGM800 + Laney GH = WIN.

As for his old school tone.. I would have to say a tweaked Intense Rock 1 tone for FACE-MELTING IN YOUR FACE METAL!!!

I disagree! I liked the Space Ship One tone, and the IR2 tone.

I agree, from the "new-era" RX, Superheroes tone was the best. It's just THICK. Old school tone was best from Intense Rock 1.

well you can power speaker cabs by using power amps, so thats probably how they used them.
