RON THAL is insane! Listen to "Guitars Suck" for just a sample of the wackiness. Crunch

I listen to everybody instrumental! Bumblefoot is one of the best at twisting notes into odd patterns. Gotta love him and Matthias Eklundh.

well everybody
i know this is different to yours but mine is

1) Jason Becker (kicks every 17 yr old i know(except when i turn 17 i've still got 4 years to go)but probably not a shredder after buying perspective.

2)Paul Gilbert 8)

3)Marty Friedman(typically no shredder after megadeth)

4)Yngwie Malmsteen(isn't that too much neo-classical for 1 decade ?)

5)slash(blues..tasty)

6)me (well know one has heard me play i classify myself as a shredder because i don't know much but play 100mph) this is just a joke...take it seriously if you want!

Have seen most of these players live, not the silly ones though like Great Kat and Angelo.
And live Yngwie is the fastest i've seen, it's incredible, quite much faster then his studio recordings.
But i guess most of these play faster live then in the studio, more adrenaline live...

Paul is my god forever. Jason is my god, too. Both of them are techincal, fast, and, especially, very musical. I think they are fastest until I heard Rusty Cooley and Francesco Fareri.

It doesnt need to argue. These 2 guys are insane. I think the reason is that both of them use 4-note-per-string pattern. So, they can be the fastest. Probabaly, it is a trend for shredders in 21 century.

shredcitylimits,

I wonder what Rusty teaches you now. I think he is a nice guy, right??

I just listened to that Francesco Fareri guy's guitar solo on his webpage.
This is ridiculously fast. But what exactly is the point? You can achieve the same thing by playing _anything_ into your computer and then speeding it up with wavelab by 500%. The musical content is the same.

For this kind of "music" i like the Paul Gilbert electric drill approach better: use some picks on the end of an electric drill. Nobody can play faster....

OK, but the topic was: fastest guy on the planet and i have to admit that this Francesco Fareri might well be a candidate for that.

Unfortunately, I can play sooo fast the notes actually travel backward through time :D

Rusty Cooley is amazing :o He has some lessons and video footage at his website. He even gives personalized lessons.

Regards,
Vaughan.

It's only there when I open it dude. The admins to the room are me (larry), partition1, and cybermatrix. We're the only guys who can open the room, if it's open it's because one of us opened it. I'm usually the one to open it, but Matrix recently got admin status from partition, and he's been opening it earlier lately. I usually get on around 2:45-3:10 Eastern Time in the US, and I try leaving it open as long as I can. Just keep looking, If it's there, we're in it. If it's not there, it's not open.

And yeah, Rusty Cooley really is amazing, technique wise.. I'm still trying to get through the legato workout. It's so loooong. ;b

Rusty teaches me all sorts of cool (and usefull) stuff like extended scale patterns, modal chord progression ideas, and some INSANE streching and arpeggio ideas. He's a really nice guy too. If anyone else here lives in Atlanta, I would recommend him as a teacher.

Jason Becker and Marty Friedman should DEFINITLY have been on the list. Just listen to Perpetual Burn, nuff said. I really don't think Impelliteri is that fast. Yngwie is in fact MUCH faster live than on record. When I play Yngwie stuff along with the record it often almost seems slow. The great thing about Yngwie is that he is incredibly accurate and even with his picking and timing. WHY is there no mention of Alex Masi?!? That guy flies!
