Post New PG Album "Behold Electric Guitar"
Being recorded, recording started 08/24/2018.
Should be a 3 week process, then I suppose it'll be mixing and mastering.

I listened to it by the way.
It's a good album, if you like rock and blues.

Naturally, my favourite track is the most upbeat one, ironically named "Love is the Saddest Thing".
Paul plays upbeat rocking fast stuff with a lot of bottleneck, one of his new interests.

It also has some nice riffing on "A Herd of Turtles".

Sadly, no great melodic hard rock/heavy metal for us Racer X fans to chew on.

Whenever I listen to a Paul interview where he talks about Hard Rock and Metal he seems to say how limited it is in terms of harmonic and melodic possibilities, compared to blues, so it doesn't sound like he'll be leaning back towards heavy metal any time soon.

I really disagree with his view though... I mean, I agree up to the point where it's true heavy distortion limits the complexity of the chords you can play, but you can always orchestrate so that instruments share the load of setting up harmonies, and even if he did limit himself when playing chords, he could still shred at high volume and distortion a lot of the clever bluesy melodies he likes so much. The melodies would dictate the context of the power chords and we'd have Paul Gilbert intense shred flavoured with his passion for blues, but I guess he'd rather turn down the distortion and play blues in the first place.

Anyway, I do recommend checking out his latest effort, Paul remains the tremendously talented guitar player we know.

^^yeah, I think that in blues it's rather the same old stuff and it's difficult to make it exciting.
But in heavy music is where a lot of innovation is happening.
