Juan Alderete is a man who stays busy. After getting his break with thrash metal outfit Racer X

Sigh... can't these writers get it right? I remember reading one article where Racer X was described as a prog rock band, and now we have this writer who labels them as thrash. How hard is it to simply listen to a couple of their tracks? Just go on youtube for 10 minutes and your research is done!

Yeah! But, LoQ, have you READ the interview?

Or at least the Racer X part? It's unbelievable!

I dunno. I don't think I've ever heard him say he was into it either.

Dont think Ive ever really heard him say anything.

But I'am curious as to why he agreed to get back into Racer X for Technical Difficulties and beyond.

It's probably one of those things...

they were young, almost teenage friends, and they've accomplished a whole lot together. He probably loves the rest of the guys, and I'd say he digs the music they created together as well!

Post Re: Cool interview with Juan
I find his comments a little hard to believe. I can believe that's how he feels about it now, but I seriously doubt he felt that way at the time. Sure, metal may not have been his absolute favorite genre, but I'm sure he liked metal - he admitted as much in saying that he owned AC/DC and Van Halen records. Just because he didn't own any Sabbath doesn't mean he didn't like metal. And there's no way he would have continued to play in Racer X after Paul left (which he did) if he only did it out of friendship. And if he was so into hip-hop, why didn't he jump on that bandwagon in the late 80's instead of playing with Bruce in the Scream? Makes no sense.

Basically, it just sounds like he's a little embarrassed to have a heavy metal past given the band he was playing in at the time of the interview and given the disdain a lot of his current fans probably have for heavy metal. So he's just distancing himself from his past a little. Bruce did the same thing for quite a long time.
