I have mixed feelings about the show.

The biggest downer for me was the stewards. Anyone who was in block A will know they were dicks - they wouldn't let anyone stand up! I was told to sit down when Paul came on and I promptly told him where to shove it, then they started making a big deal and I informed (and showed them the ticket) them I was permitted to stand. They weren't having it, despite the ticket saying otherwise...?! It wasn't just me - several people went up to them at the interval and it got quite aggressive - I thought there was going to be a fight at one point.

I mean, I was told to sit down to Corey Taylor and Kerry King doing a Pantera cover. Jesus.

Trying to overlook that, I did have some fun. The house band were awesome as we're all the musicians.

As for Paul's set, his playing was awesome as standard but fuck my life, covers. Why do that! You have such an awesome bal catalogue of hits and we get a selection of slower numbers, most noticeably a Jimmi Hendrix cover. Yes it was fun, but I was rather gutted. He came back on at the end of Satriani's set to do another cover (down down down). It was cool to see them have a mini-duel.

I'm shocked to say it but Malmsteen totally stole the show. He was as hilarious as awesome, doing his chuck Norris kicks and shredding his arse off. He was a phenomenal player, wow! He saw me moshing and joined in synchronised, haha, that was probably my highlight. Honestly, he totally blew Paul and Satch away.

The jam at the end was, meh, smoke on the water. Enough said really.

Fun, but not epic IMO.

I don't get why Paul has been playing so many cover songs... :( We are fans of him not the other bands that originally made the stuff.

Maybe he was told to cover for the Marshall gigs? Or maybe he had this special place in his heart which told him to play certain songs because it's a Marshall thing, afterall. Maybe he was inspired by those songs and blah blah related to Marshall maps etc.

I get all your frustrations, though. And I agree with Paul's tone. His tone HAS been changing a lot since a bit before GOOMY. I think it all started when he discovered he liked single coils better (when he put one on the Dino RG after he discovered the single coil PUP that sounded great from the Gio RG commercial he did).
