Post Shred Your Enthusiasm
Hello,

I have a new column in Premier Guitar magazine.

It's also online. Here's the link to the first one:

http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/I ... dings.aspx

I'm having a good time with it. I hope you dig it too.

Thank you,

Paul

@Nitefly: Same thought train... I saw Pablo's post and didn't care if it said 'otngpoirthgpowirtgwrtg'... I was just happy that he posted. What a giant sigh of relief. 'Cause to post, you have to be alive and have control of both of your hands, or your voice - depending on the software - and have a stable connection to the Internet world. :)

I'm hoping and praying for a swift return to normalcy for the good people of Japan!

Thank you, Paul, for the link to the first installment of this column.

(It's going to be awesome, so stay tuned to Premier Guitar)

I like the Curb Your Enthusiasm reference! haha

It's a great column. Really enjoyed reading that!

Also, I'm very sorry for the bus driver story. I knew it wasn't a lie when I read it on Paul's website... What a bummer! I can't belive there isn't a way to track down this asshole!

Post Re: Shred Your Enthusiasm
Blogged. It's a wonderful column. It's educational, engaging, and very prosaically written. Better yet, it's by Paul. All the things I like about the '08 VIP book are here in this column, with some added perks. It's very humorous and entertaining - notwithstanding the awful gear heist tale. I hope he keeps up this high standard of good work for the rest of the lessons.

Paul almost never complains and look at that! He put special emphasis on the theft. It must be VERY serious and very painful! Paul hid his pain from us (=fans) so long, and so well, that until today, even though the theft was on his site in his writing, nobody mentioned it (ok, besides me, but I mention everything, LOL). I thought the gear theft thing was sort-of a prank or a joke... like maybe the guy ran off with a bag full of cables, a pedal, or their stuffed Gremlin or something. I didn't think it was serious, so I never bothered looking around.

There probably is a way to track Mr. Thief down, but we (=fans) were "told" 4 months after the fact, so it's basically an exercise in honing your hunting skills at this point. He was probably a runner for a cartel for all we know. Everything is probably settled - either a criminal case, or an insurance settlement, or both. (Paul was wise enough to insure his gear as far back as the Racer X days and got compensation for the Marshall stolen from his friend's car, which jimi78 now owns and gigs with - as the happy ending! I'm sure Paul remains that wise to this day.) The part of me that realizes how much power there is in 45000 pairs of eyes - the collective WE - that's approx. how many fans he has on Facebook alone - REALLY, really wants to make an attempt to rally troops and take off after this person (or the company they work for, or both). I might. I might not. The problem is, I am too enthusiastic and this is my life's sin. It's not just in regards to Paul - it's everything. Even the long posts... So, I quit on Feb. 7, and I don't want to make a pest of myself to them anymore, you know? I'll collect and organize as much information as is presented to me though, and forward it to Johnny Law if requested. :)

I wonder what the next lesson is. To stay on-topic, of course. :)

Thanks Paul! I'm sorry to hear about the bus driver and the gear. I actually thought it was a joke on the website =o

Oh NOUU! so the bit about "huge thanks to the bus driver, if he decides to return our equipment" wasn't just a joke

However, it's not really possible to sell his #0001 fireman (well, I'm assuming that it has serial nr. 1), anyone who buys it has to live with the fact that it's stolen from the man himself

I hope that Ibanez Hollowbody guitar wasn't in that bus

If I remember, Paul had the Korina FRM, Red FRM and a Destroyer on tour with him at the time, a near double set of pedals, two Vintage Modern combos, and so many picks and other things I'm sure.

You have to be a special kind of ass to thieve from the guy you were just contracted to work for. I'm sure it's been settled, and Paul seems to have moved to the JMDs now.

New thread ^^ For all things related to gear theft!
You can talk about your own gear getting stolen, or Paul's - whatever. Whodunit tinfoil hatting and conspiracy theorizing is gladly accepted!

Anything other then the beginning lesson for the Premier Guitar column. :)

Cool new column. I appreciate that there's always an emphasis on finding the musicality (is that a word?) in your examples rather than focusing almost exclusively on the techniques as so many other instructors/lessons seem to do.

I didn't take your gear but I have been stealing your licks.
Thanks.
