Post Judas Priest is retiring from the scene too.
Help, Ruth! Please add some weight to this...

I found this originally on an Italian site, and the link contains a rumor, so I hit Judas Priest's official site so that I would not post a rumor.

Here is the statement regarding Judas Priest.

"Judas Priest announce farewell EPITAPH World Tour!!
Tuesday, December 07, 2010

After storming the world for nearly 40 years and taking their very special brand of heavy metal to all four corners of the planet, JUDAS PRIEST - one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time, have announced this will be their final world tour!!

However, the mighty PRIEST will certainly be going out strong as they rock the planet starting in 2011 on the massive EPITAPH tour - hitting all the major cities throughout the world they will be playing the songs that helped make the name JUDAS PRIEST synonymous with heavy metal!

With all guns blazing and amps cranked to eleven, the band will be giving all their fans one last chance to witness the ultimate metal experience that is JUDAS PRIEST!

JUDAS PRIEST will be starting their world tour in Europe - we have just confirmed the following festivals for 2011 -

9th June Sweden Rock Festival, Sweden
11th June Sauna Festival, Finland
17th June Copenhell Festival, Copenhagen, Denmark
19th June Hellfest, Nantes, France
22nd June Gods of Metal Festival, Milan, Italy
25th June Graspop Festival, Belgium
23rd July HIgh Voltage Festival, London, UK
5th August Wacken Festival, Germany

Stay tuned as we announce more dates - information will be forthcoming soon - so start getting prepared to rock one final time with the incomparable JUDAS PRIEST!!"

If you backtrack on these concert dates, you might find the rumor.

In a thread related to another band which Paul is involved with, some guys were saying that Racer X would never happen again. Since it looks like Scott Travis will have some time after this Priest 'farewell tour' I say: don't give up on Racer X so fast. :)

Random unhappy-yet-silly thought: Aagh, no more Judas Prius!
Suckage.
They're a pretty dang good band. Time to mope around a bit. *sigh*

It's not because of Scott Travis commitments with Judas Priest.

I was just stirring the pot... you guys seem to like that! It wasn't any sort of concrete truth or even a guess - I was just being an instigator, because some of you guys have been instigators on non-Racer X threads too! All in good fun. :)

Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Oh no. :(

Glad I saw them last summer, since I probably wont attend the Copenhell Festival.

They aren't splitting up, they just aren't doing big world tours after this one.

It seems like Priest is retiring from touring in favor of Halford The Band, according to this report issued today:

It doesn't say they're doing it in favor of Halford.

It's probably the band's decision to stop touring, and Rob just wanted to say that, even though Judas Priest is not gonna be there anymore, Halford will be.

Yes....it's retirement. It's basically Glenn, who doesn't want to tour anymore. Obviously Rob isn't stopping....and as much as we'd like to think he has influence...Scott isn't retiring. Ian, wants to play because he wanted to play last summer....and I know KK wanted to tour last summer....and Glenn wanted to take the summer off....so I'm assuming Glenn is the retiree.

I had a feeling it was Glenn. didn't he also have health issues last tour?

BTW, saw Halford Dec 4 and it was awesome. He looked so relaxed and really seemed to be having a great time.

OK,

so I sent to see the show last night here in Sao Paulo...

WHAT A NIGHT! I bet there were around 20 or 30 thousand people over there... I never thought Judas Priest could pack a place like that as a main atraction here in Brazil.

Whitesnake was totally tight, there were spot solos for both guitars (Doug and Reb) and drums. The sound was a bit low, but that was ok. They also played that killer version of Burn... COOL

Now, when Priest came to stage, the sound was as loud as they deserved! They played so many classics, it was hard to belive! The new gutiarist had some cool spots to show off his technique and all that. The only downside was Rob Halford's voice, that sometimes clearly couldn't hit the high notes the once sang so easily.

I saw them in 2008, but I think Scott was even better this time. He put some double bass parts in some old songs, played everything spot on... it shows why he's one of the best heavy metal drummers out there. His drums parts don't require nothing more... and nothing less.

In order to fulfill my happiness, Scott had a spot solo before Painkiller, and he played the intro of - you guessed right - SCARIFIED! I couldn't belive my ears and eyes! Altought most people didn't seem to recognize that, I was totally blown away by that!

Also, before the last song, Scott picked up the mic and said a few words to the audience!

I don't have to say I had a killer time... If any of you still have the chance, go and see this tour because... they might not play near you again.

You can see the link for Painkiller (and the drum solo here). I wasn't the one who filmed that, but it sounds ok:

Rob Halford's own and unique Spinal Tap moment... falling from the bike... again:
