Paul jumped to a parallel non-fuzz universe?

Interesting.. I was wondering why the hell he had all those Marshalls on stage when I saw the show.
Guess this is why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD4b59zgrH8

And for once, I wasn't a big fan of his live tone :? Just lacked some beef behind it.

A friend of mine is bringing the band to Chile, on July 7th!

So, friends in Brazil and Argentina, be prepared, as the dates for southamerica should be confirmed shortly!

Well, we all know Paul, his head would probably explode if he didn't try something new all the time.

it almost sounded like he didn't have his distorted amps on and/or mic'd.

fun show nonetheless!

Still weird that you guys said there was almost no distortion. Although the sound quality on that video is horrible, you can clearly see there's some distortion going on.

It probably depends on where you stand.

Great Show but I too was very dissappointed with Paul's tone... He played most of the night with just a hint of overdrive as opposed to any real distortion... The closest he came to any real distortion was on "Addicted"... Now Granted you don't need tons of Mesa Boogie "Balls and Crunch" distortion for Mr. Big songs but his sound was just way too thin, way too "twangy"... That Injector single coil just didn't work for me... In fact if I had my way, PG would put down the Fireman for the Mr. Big stuff and go back to the PGM's with the Tone Zones... Just my 2 cents... :chew:

One more thing to add... At first I was surprised to see a girl doing sound for Mr. Big... I thought to myself "she must really know her stuff", but once the show started needless to say I took that thought back as I stood right behind her watching throughout the show, I don't know maybe Billy hired her because she had him WAY UP in the mix and Paul was too low most of the time, the vocals were unbalanced at times as well... again just my opinion...

I was in the front of the balcony just above Paul. It's odd hearing the audio from the YouTube videos and the opinions from people that were on the floor, because it didn't sound that way from up there. Like Alex said, Billy was more prominent in the mix, but Paul's "clean" tone was not that obvious from where I stood. Overall, I thought it was a great show.

do girls have inferior hearing or something? not sure why it mattered that a girl did sound. just my opinion.

Paul's distortion seemed very similar to the live album "Live at Budokan", from "Hey Man" album.

Have you ever noticed that?

A snapshot from Japanese TV:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTeliS9dOao

Bear through it, there is footage of the band meeting fans and arriving (guessing Morioka?) at 0.50,
a live snapshot of the new song (The World Is On The Way) for Japan Earthquake/Tsunami relief
at 2.27 and words of wisdom from Eric and Billy at 2.57

The Osaka show was the 100th time Mr. Big have performed in Japan. Photos of celebration here:
http://www.whd.co.jp/news/detail/25

Billy is pretty active on Twitter at the moment btw... lots of info from him should you care to check it out.
V. cool that the band have been raising much happiness (and relief funds) in Japan by the looks and sounds of it.

This is well worth a look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkUY82GFc20
especially from 02.37

The band performing The World Is On The Way on Japanese TV
last night (today for the rest of us). Paul once said he gets
nervous performing live on TV. This being one of those moments
it really doesn't show.

Three things:
1) Paul is EXTREMELY tall compared to the rest of the band haha
2) Whats that they play from 1:55 to 2:30?
3) This shows how truly compassionate these guys are, after all that Japan has had to go through.

New PG interview in anticipation of Mr. Big's Chinese debut:
http://www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2011/04/27/To-Be-With-Us-An-Interview-With-Mr-Bigs-Paul-Gilbert

There are some truely obscure questions in there, but we can now assume by 2+2 that Paul is going to wear a long-hair wig next time he visits Guatemala :?
