Have you seen they are offering VIP "Experience" ticket packages for the US Tour?

195 USD each??? WTF!

You can get a much better-value VIP lesson with Paul for 90 minutes for that price.
Not impressed. Unless the proceeds are going to charity or something then I'll eat my words

I dunno, I thought Paul's VIPs have been much more expensive before. I'm sure there is much more to it than a lesson.

Are they meeting with ordinary audience after the shows? In Madrid I couldn´t meet them and I was thinking those VIP tickets could be the reason :)

I didn't see anyone mention that they had a VIP session and I didn't see any for sale for any of the European shows.

Speaking of European shows, I hope noone was planning on going to the Rock the Nation festival at Ferropolis as it has been cancelled!

I'd hazard a guess those VIP "Experiences" are going to take place before the show.
Looks like its just for the US dates too. No idea if they are doing signings afterwards.
It would be very un-Paul-like not to but then he tends to take a step back in the
band in that respect. Chances are you're more likely to get a 'free' autograph after
the show in Europe than in the US, bit thats just my hunch. No solid facts I'm afraid.
Have my hats lined up to eat.

More dates added into October now for Italy. Spain, Portugal and France late
September after the UK. A monster tour!

Correct. Something got mis-read from above. I was merely trying to make the
point that the Mr. Big VIP Experience package is in my humble opinion not worth
the money (compared to a VIP guitar lession with Paul, which was about the same price
for the 2008 SFBADR tour...this was well-worth the money because he provided close to
1 on 1 tutition above everything else).

Even though the Mr. Big VIP Experience contains a bunch of goodies and a concert
ticket, the fact still remains they are charging you to meet them, take photos and sign
autographs. I just think its wrong - UNLESS the proceeds are going to charity
(as I said above). It is just my opinion - I am happy for those who want to do it, you'll
no doubt have a great time and experience. Like I said, I am happy to eat my words.

Where are the days when you could hang around at the backstage door with a biro and
a notebook freezing your butt off waiting for an autograph? These make for much better
memories in the end, but may be I'm getting too old.

Details on the Mr. Big VIP Experience packages here for those who want to know:

I actually watched Mr. Big here. I was with some Japanese friends and it was great (for the most part). For some reason, I felt kind of disappointed though. The show didn't flow as smoothly as some concerts I've been through. They played a lot of songs I didn't know (They played the good ones at the start and at the end, I am grateful for this but I felt like maybe they coulda spaced them out a bit). I liked PG's solo but the older solo spots were more creative.

I dunno. I think all those years waiting to see PG put my expectations too high. I scratched watching Mr. Big off my "things to do before I die" list but I dunno why it felt so empty. Maybe cause I wasn't in the front row? (but I was really close) Or cause the excitement threshold was hit too fast? I dunno. Maybe cause the crowd wasn't jumping up and down for every song or cause the stadium was only half full?

I think part of me wanted to hear Racer X. I think I'd go crazy for a Racer X show even if I was the only one in front of the stage. I practically confirmed that I'm a Racer X fan first, a Paul Gilbert fan second, and a Mr. Big fan last

What a greag show it was!

The band was amazing, perfect sound and a long 23 song setlist (including solo spots of PG and Billy), which gave 2 hours of a memorable show.

It was great that the band resurrected some cool songs of their catalog (such as "Road to ruin", "A little to loose" and "Merciless"). For me, the song I missed the most was "Promise her the moon", which may be my favorite Mr. Big song of all time (with "Take Cover").

Oh, and the new songs sounded fantastic. They sounded fresh, heavy and groovy!

Words appart for the groove and precission of Pat Torpey. What an amazing drummer, such an asset for the band´s sound! Billy and Paul were amazing and mindblowing as usual, even though I still preffer Paul´s PGM tone instead of the Fireman´s (played just 2 red firemans on the show). Eric is a very good frontman, sang great and came up with some very funny stories and jokes.

All around a great concert, hope to see the band again!

Set list was:

Daddy, Brother
Green Tinted
Undertow
Alive n kickin
American Beauty
Take cover
Just take my heart
Once upon a time
A little to loose
Road to ruin
Merciless
Still ain´t enough for me
Price you gotta pay
Take a walk
Around the world
As far as i can see
Addicted to that rush
--
To be with you
Wild world
Collorado Bulldog
--
Smoke on the water
Shyboy

Ok. First of all: the band was LOUD!!! I mean, really really LOUD!

I can't write a detailed review on the songs, but here's what happened at the Sao Paulo show:

Most of the time, I was looking at Paul. I was right in front of him. His tone was nicely huge! The whole band sounded that way, actually.

The whole band, but specially Paul, was having a great time. I mean, I don't see Paul smiling all the time and going "whoa!" and "heavy metal!" in between songs on any live footage as I've seen last night. Paul was supper happy.

He was having one of those "this is amazing" moments right before Take Cover started. When Pat hit the drums, Paul almost missed the beat!

Also, I've never seen Paul acting so silly as he did last night. He was making faces to the crowd all the time, and towards the end of the show, when everybody was screaming "MR BIG, MR BIG", he was clapping and dancing! haha really, that was one silly Paul! :P

Now, it was long ago since I saw Paul Gilbert shred like that. Good lord, the man was playing fast licks in between chords like there was no tomorrow! An amazing experience just watching him shred like that so close to me.

And at last: Paul Gilbert was making eye contact to a lot of people who were on the front rows, and I'm pretty sure he kept looking at me over and over... now that might just be me being a fanboy, but I wouldn't be surprised, as I was smiling the whole show and singing all the lyrics right in front of him!

Oh, Billy came wearing a Brazillian soccer shirt on the encore! That was pretty cool too!

Mr Big might not be among my favorite bands, but they sure played one of the best shows I've ever been to!

Thank Paul!

So we got "THE" Paul Gilbert back? I mean, to me Paul didn't seem very confident at the Fuzz Universe tour, so maybe playing with Billy and an amazing band really is giving Paul that extra kick? :D

I need videos!

I'd say so, man.

Here's a couple of vids:

His unaccompanied solo:

Addicted to that Rush:

I don't think any other videos I've seen online yet have shown what I said, but it was amazing for sure.

Now, when he said "Heavy Metal!" (not on the mic, but I could actually hear him), I couldn't happen to think: "Racer X" :?
