@neb233 : GOOD LUCK!! Good Luck! You have looked forward to this day for so long. Please be safe on the roads... your guitar skillz are needed in this world! I hope you get to the venue ok and have a fantastic time, jamming out w/Paul, and learning a bunch of guitar secrets!
:)

This is the end of the tour. It'll be warm at Le Bataclan because Paul's going to set the night on fire. Well... hopefully! :)

edit to put in a quick pic update... a pic by Raf_alloggio from Dec. 11.

The snow is falling! The snow is falling! AAAAAAAAAHH nooooooo!

Image

That evil Il Neige!
It was probably just Godzilla trying to buzz back in...

Okay, don't panic. Paul, band, and crew left Logrono "posthaste" yesterday and managed to make it to Paris nearly on-time. The Paris show started 2 hours late but it was not cancelled.

Paris was said to be a fantastic show. There is some soundcheck footage on YT now.

The tour is ending! The tour is ending! AAAAAAAAAHH nooooooo!

Anyway, so has Paul lost it?

His edge? No way. His mind? That's up to you to decide.

(Hope you enjoyed these Madrid pics by FER.) I'll put up some more goodies later.

Ok People!!!! Here it is, the last show of the tour!!!!

I made it to the venue quite early, and met the other VIPers (one of them was 13!!!). We ewere told the bus was delayed because of the snow, so we waited until Paul and crew got there. Chatted with Jeff when he got there, great guy! Told me to look him up when I get to MI ^^

And then the VIP session.

AWESOME!!!!! Jamming with my absolute hero!!! Learning all about relaxing when picking and a ton of other guitar stuff!!!! Funny anecdote, Paul told us he got to sit in as drum player for Cheap Trick for one song, I think it was "He's a whore" or "ELO kiddies". Anyway, amongst other things, we jammed in A and C, which went pretty smoothly for me but was a trainwreck for a couple of the other guys (not to be mean, but they were kind of mindless shredders for some). Paul showed us some BB King licks, and I even got to play the Korina Fireman! Unbelivable stuff!

But, incredible as it seems, the show was the best part of the day.

And what a show!!!! So much energy going back and forth between the gang, so many heavy metal signs from Craig. And for all those saying Tony isn't all that great, he definitely is!!! Just incredible blues jams between him and Paul. At one point, Tony even sat down on a flight case to jam, while Paul had his foot on the monitor.

The show also confirmed my intial suspicions : Paul's current sound is a LIVE sound! Absolutely ear-ripping intensity coming from his rig, just awesome! Biggest surprise of the night? Why Emi!!!!

She showed up towards the end, she was apparently straight from the airport! Paul and her shared a moment together on stage, and it was great!

And last but not least, there was the incredible roar from the crowd when Craig presented Paul at the end of the show. It must have lasted for 5 minutes solid! Paul even joked by saying it was so intense that they might use the recording of it to add to the end of every song so they could pretend the whole show was as incredible.

Overall, best PG show i've seen out of the three i've been to so far. Still can't believe I wasn't dreaming!

I'm a bit envious of every one of you who got to go to these concerts.
You've had more fun then should be allowed... you're all so fortunate!
Bumma' that the tour's over now... sigh.

@neb233 : Cool, you're home safe too. :)
Wow, it sounds like you had such an incredible time at the show, and what a great thing right before the holidays!
What a nice review, too.

> Biggest surprise of the night? Why Emi!! She showed up towards the end, she was apparently straight from the airport! Paul and her shared a moment together on stage, and it was great!

Yay, Emi showed up!! That's so awesome! What a way to close out the tour.

MM hmm.
Hopefully someone got it on video.

Roger Rocksovertheworld has a nice pic he contributed to the Paris cache...

* Could be the same guy as "Roger Speed&RockAndRoll" from 2008. Not sure.

I was sent a blurry, as-it-happened picture specially, by my friend Pierre... Just so I would know the show was rockin'. SO CUTE... unfortunately I got the pic 3 hours late. Better then never! Savin' it!

Here's some Paris '10 vid footage - check their channel:

Back from the Paris show. The VIP session was awesome, even better than the one in 2008. We only asked one question to Paul, but he gave very detailed answers, and the jams were really cool. My hands couldn't help shaking but it was fun. I agree with neb about the mindless shredding, it was a little bit like 11 Am rock/blues riffs and then one sloppy random shred phrase in random major. Apart from that, the lesson was awesome and I'm glad I got my Racer X vinyls signed!

Dang. Logged in a few minutes too late. :)
Remy posted up 2 'VIP session, distilled' videos and they're really cool. In the videos, he teaches some of Paul's riffs... as Paul would play them. If your fingerings are the same as Paul's for a couple of those, I can see why he'd call it F.U, LOL... and then we have the Mister E chord! Related maybe to the Mister G chord? (too bad there isn't a note 'P') I love the end of part 2 because it's just a bunch of heaviness.

The 2010 European VIP booklet by Paul is not anywhere on the 'net. People have luckily kept that their secret. *agreement with Remy*
There are some audio recordings, which have been super glimpses to check out so far.
It would be awesome to hear more.

Here's some more Paris video goodness:
http://www.youtube.com/user/MrRogerRocks2
http://www.youtube.com/user/poupystar
http://www.youtube.com/user/irmguitar
http://www.youtube.com/user/brunettebackdoor

And a horrible Paris picture tease:
http://www1.wireimage.com/GalleryListin ... 596&nbc1=1
Maybe those pictures are small enough to snag for Facebook page profile shots, like the gallery from NL.

+ a bonus --

A nice shot by Rosario Lopez Concert Photography, from Barcelona:
Paul Gilbert And The Grapefruit Of Doom
Image
(when extreme metal guys make that hand sign, the hipsters call it "grapefruit" - "he looks like he's holding a grapefruit" - dunno how they came up with that, but it's funny.)

OT/sidenote: For some reason, early last week, my YouTube account was cleared to post videos longer then 15 minutes. It was a banner notice on my mainpage when I signed in one day. I could if I wanted to... but I don't have anything longer then 15 minutes worthy of posting. (I already tried to get something transcribed - the audio was master/pristine quality... it still didn't work. I'm still doing all the typing, LOL.) I never asked YouTube for this, and I never tried to join in any program or ad-share thing. I have no idea how or why it happened but I'm happy about it.
So if you have long (15-19.75 min.) PG tour videos, which you shot (live clips only!), that you want the world to see, I would be happy to credit you + post them for you.

Yes you have. I got your shirts. I'm asking the post office about the shipping, then I'll pm you.

By the way, I'm back from the Paris show, and it was a VERY good one! I changed my opinion 'bout Craig, he rocked! and Tony played his best, more accurate than in Lyon, more inspired I think. Great singing as always.

Great news that you guys had so much fun (at the VIP sessions, nerve-wracking as they may be...) and the Paris show was so good.
+ It's nice to see that Lady Killer will get the shirts he wanted after all!

OK, forget the picture tease, check this out... Rock Fort Show from Paris delivers!

Is that not the most awesome picture to be posted in the past few months easily?!
How do we follow THAT up?!

Back to shows as usual, I guess.

How the bleep did I miss FER's videos? Sorry to everyone here because he has some really nice stuff!
Someone gave me the link to Olympic from Madrid, and from there I checked his channel and found others.

I'm editing some of FER's awesome Logrono pics today... if you like the Madrid series you will *adore* the Logrono series. Pics are a welcome break from the type-a-thon of yesterday and this morning, LOL. (3 interviews + 1 edit in 1 day) My hands are a bit tired. ;)

hahahahaha. Fer.

I was thinking, why not make a kind of "live DVD" of Paul's shows.
We could ask the people on youtube and here to send via megaupload or hotfile or something like that to share the best videos with good sound quality of each song of Paul and make it available via here this forum.

But here is my question: would it be a problem because of the copyright stuff, etc... ?????

Would have been awesome to have a live DVD from Paul but since we don't have, why not make it ourselves ?

Tell me your thoughts.

I think that's an awesome idea - why not ask PG himself what he thinks? I'm pretty sure that there shouldn't be any problems if we do not offer to buy the videos.

Dino, you can come up for air, you know!

I just finished typing out interview #2. One more to go and it's possibly going to be my favorite one. I might listen to it on Christmas because it's sort-of my Christmas present.

Here's one thing I remember from the last interview:
Paul Gilbert is not quitting Paul Gilbert! The solo career shall continue.
I am SO grateful to have heard that...

I don't think you're going to get any help from Paul's audio stash. I'm not going to bust any surprises. You'll just have to listen to, or read, the interview when it's published. Maybe that will be today or maybe that will be next week - I don't know. I'm just the typist! I'll put the links up when they are ready. :)

There are a few of Paul's shows (filmed in their entirety) available on YouTube. They are listed in this thread.

In the meantime, I have already selected the best (or nearly-best) videos from the tour and put links to them on my blog. All are hosted on YouTube through the original videographers. You can watch the entire show "in set order" and this has been possible since 9 shows in to the tour. No need to re-invent the wheel. Someone made a playlist on YouTube out of it, so you can watch the whole show in order, right there if you don't want to hit my site. No big deal. The audio is really good on most of the clips - like I said before, it seems like phones have come a LONG way since 2008!

@elfranchicano: You're welcome! I'm glad you appreciate this stuff.

The interviews are not up yet... I know the best one won't be up until at least Jan. 2; the other 2... we'll see.
(One I am waiting for photo permissions, and the other, just plain waiting, because I want to launch all 3 at the same time.)

The tour video page is on my blog here:
