Post PG 2008 Tour Book Available
I've compiled a new treat for you guys.
It's FREE, as always!
Like Guitar World's re-orgnized 2008 DVD of Paul's lessons, this is a re-organized work from 2008.
It's a ton of stuff relating to Paul's 2008 autumn European tour.

It's on my blog now, and will be on my RapidShare later tonight.

Here is the page which holds the file. Don't link to the file because I do delete them due to updates, pretty regularly. Link only to the page.

http://metalichicka.wordpress.com/2010/ ... -synopsis/

Stats:
About a hundred hours of elbow grease / work time
60+ reviews
112 hand-inserted, hand-centered page numbers (&*.>%*#%)
203 pictures, all chosen for their "dynamics"
There had better be 0 typos

Challenges:
The main challenge, after making sure I had a review for every city, was to make this -feel- "like a book" without being book-ish. To meet that "magazine / book" challenge, I turned to my friends at Guitar Edge and Rolling Stone. I looked at their pages and asked myself "why does their stuff look cooler then my output so far? We're all working with the same materials." The answer was the use of page space, creative bolding of first words, the text boxes, and pull quotes. Another part of the answer is that these pages were formerly all run together using the "continuous" option - I have now selected the "single" option so that each page is presented on it's own. Now it "reads more like a book or magazine".
* You'd think I'd have realized that ages ago - I used to do DTP and layout for service bureaus! Like any skill - when it's not practiced for many years, it becomes rusty or is forgotten... that's the best rationale I could come up with. ;)
The other challenge was to select photos that had not been selected before. There is *some* overlap, but not nearly as much as if I'd just been picking from the same pool of 300 photos that I'd used for the last 3 books.
This is presented at "very high resolution" for the general Web: 144 dpi images, 300 dpi text. It should print beautifully. Let me know if you encounter any issues (like funky colors in photos, not caused by the photographer or stage lights.)

+ Many thanks to all of you who have contributed material or time to this in any way. You all rock and I hope you enjoy seeing the fruits of your labors presented like this, for everyone to enjoy.
++ [late breaking news] A super special thanks to Teddygorm who was kind enough to re-write a review for Svendborg for this... this morning! I didn't realize I'd lost the original until ~2 days ago, and by then, this was 99% done. He met the time crunch challenge and did a fantastic job, too.

Random note:
Page 91 is a photo by Lee Millward. It's the "alternate front cover".

:)

Future plans:
I'd love to add the silly stuff. (touristy pictures, out-take shots, etc.)
I'd like to add some of the flyers.
I'd maybe like to add some more random fan or band member quotes.
Oh - more scandal boxes, of course. (just kidding - there are enough already!)

I'm trying again with Safari, just in case...

Yes, I have a job.
I've been very busy with that for the past few months actually.
Somewhere along the line, I managed to get a boyfriend and several hobbies too. Well, I've had the b/f for nearly 18 years, so he doesn't really count, LOL. ;).
On some days, it was either 'work on the PG project?' or 'play FishVille?'
Time management. It works!
:)

This was the easiest of all of 'the book projects' because 95% of the work was done in 2008. Back in 2008, this was a huge, time-consuming passion for a few months. A lot of you guys probably remember the nightly hunts for new reviews and photos, the 'please translate?' begs, all of our banter back and forth in the tour thread, etc. I think the results would not be nearly so nice without a lot of help from people on this board - it's just as much your work as mine. Thank you all!

For this project, only reformatting was necessary... well, that and a lot of editing aka being nitpicky / 'pixel-pushing'! The toughest part was picking out the pictures, and I didn't get the title until 2 days before publishing. Some of the reviews were re-worked before being included, and one of them - Svendborg - was a time crunch: I got that on the last morning and had it included in to the final product by the last evening.

I have two others, so I'll see what I can get done today!

The RapidShare link is "live" now. So, if you had problems downloading from my blog, please try the RapidShare link.

It downloaded just fine from the blog in Google Chrome.
It looks really good, I haven't got the time to read it through at the moment, though. Good job. :)

I finally downloaded the document from Rapidshare and had no problem...
I don't know why it didn't work when downloading directly from your blog.
Anyway, you did a great work here, and I was glad to see my name (and pictures) ;)
Thanks a lot !

I´m gonna go to your blog to download the file and before having it I´m pretty sure it will be awesome as usual, but the main reason for writing this is asking you this silly question: Isn´t your b/f jealous of Paul? :D

Congratulations for you great effort and thanks for sharing it! :)
