I gather - via pictures, not rumors - that they're all in Japan doing promotion for 'What If...' right now. I knew Billy was there because he mentioned it on one of his Web 2.0 accounts... but I was unaware that the rest of them were there too. GoogleTranslate is just too shaky with Japanese to trust it, so this is a happy surprise (that it turned out to be true).

Whoever stickied the Mr. Big 2011 World Tour thread, that rules! Super awesome.
(Too bad Paul's solo tour threads couldn't get stickied like that!)

Eric is definitely there (mentioned on his Twitter).
He said "on another adventure overseas with Señor Grande. Lots of promo, pictures 'n Pokemon cards." which sounds like the whole band is there, though it's not unknown for just Billy and Eric to go (a la England this year)

On a side (but heavily related) note, What If... was shipped on Saturday and should be with me tomorrow!!

DVD is cool but makes me want to record again...

Happy power outage & Groundhog Day everyone! Spring is less then 6 weeks away, says the groundhog. I think he's incorrect. For this big storm - we only got 4 inches of snow. We got ripped off (except the scary power outage, but that was only 2.5 hours!)... Chicago got 2 feet of snow!

Regarding the tour - they still have not corrected the 'June 8' issue on the official website, but they did add M3. (the 'cock rock' fest in Maryland) That was the only update.

Here are a couple of blurbs about the "Live From The Living Room" secret show they played in Japan, as part of the 'What If...' promo tour:

Paul's on the latest front cover of Jakarta's Gitar Plus...

http://twitpic.com/3v3o9v

With his custom-shop 12-string.

It's some sort of exclusive interview regarding Mr. Big...
I keep forgetting to email them and ask if it's going to be put online or if I have to ask some of my Indonesian friends to buy me a copy.

This reminds me, I saw Mr. Big on the cover of a magazine that I'd never heard of before last week and just found an online version of the article.
Must be from Eric and Billy's promo tour in the UK a few weeks ago.

I think there was also an interview with Paul but that doesn't appear to be on their site (although I haven't had time to look that thoroughly...)

gave the album a listen and wow... that was not was i was expecting.

Its just chords without meaning its like everything has been made in a hurry. Next Time Around was way different , and Undertow is still my favorite song of the album but the rest... wow they dont cut it for me and i love Mr.Big :/ they are awesome solos there though

Post Re: Mr. Big, New Album
I finally got to hear a couple of "other" songs from What If... on a Swedish podcast interview with Pat Torpey from a little while ago.

(The 45-min. interview contained no surprises or spoilers. The questions were all quite bland.)

Dunno why some of you guys are dismissing What If... wholesale. It is not le suck. I had to guess which songs were new and which were old. The new "lower" range for Eric was the giveaway for Still Ain't Enough For Me, which was a song I really enjoyed. The other song was "I Get The Feeling" but I only listened to a little bit of it - no formed opinion. Loved the dirty, distorted mix on Still Ain't Enough For Me. Rough and gritty. Not too clean. I grew up on records & tapes - only the most brief foray in to 8-tracks - and enjoy a thicker, more "live", meaner sound like that possesses. 'CD cleanliness' in a mix is good sometimes, and bad sometimes. I also like Undertow, well enough.

Oh and Eric added the M3 Fest date to his tour date page + it's in his latest interview from MetalSucks.

I'm listening to the new album again and... wow it does sound good!

Maybe it's just I was in a hurry back then, when it was released, or maybe it's just me today, but I really like the way the new songs sound heavy and inspired!

Yes, I started listening to it a few weeks ago and some songs are very interesting, even though I feel there are some fillers. In particular, I really enjoy "I Won't Get In My Way", "Around The World" and "Still Ain't Enough For Me".

I got the Frontiers special (DVD) edition of What If at the Munich show from the nice chap at the merch stand. It was worth the €18 just for Paul's impromptu playing on the Fireman in the studio. He's getting better all the time, his note choice and phrasing just keep on improving!
