Interview With Jeff Bowders (Thingamuhjig, PG's band, etc)
Here you go!
Interview With Jeff Bowders, Oct. 2009
It's a PDF (1.325 mb - should load very fast!) with lots of pictures.
It's veeeeeery long, and quite detailed.
Sorry, anti-bloggers... this one is blog-only. Please put aside your acrimony and come over to read about Jeff's new material, his musical outlook and future, his drumming set-up, get some practice and playing tips, and read odd/funny stories about quarter-tomato Thanksgiving feasts, and the presence of drunk guys in ductwork. Really. Plus a TON of other things.
Enjoy!

I think I saw him eating at Mel's Diner today. Could be wrong though.

Funny thing about this interview... I thought "I bet Jeff will *never* talk to me." I was so intimidated about it that I had this plan: I was going to talk to Derek Roddy, Scott Travis, and Pat Torpey first, and then try to talk to Jeff. I actually e-mailed Derek Roddy, but he didn't reply, so I kinda gave up on the whole idea. Then I guess by pure super luck or something, Jeff replied to one of my e-mails so I asked if he would do an interview... this is the result. :)
There are a couple of questions in it that I think are kinda iffy, smarts-wise. All the answers are awesome; Jeff did a tremendous job - I didn't want to edit it too much - so I left in the "not the smartest questions" in for guffaws and groans. Or something like that. :) That's my advance apology for questions you guys might think aren't the bestest. I used to play drums, a LONG long time ago, but I'm so used to talking to guitar & bass players x so many years, that my old edge is just gone. LOL.

"There was a joke about the number of sit-ups required to play Scarified"
It was something along the lines of "You have to do 10.000 sit up abs to play Scarified. 9.999 is not enough."
I'll check my setlist from London when I get home just to be sure. Wilson has a similar quote on his setlist from Dudley
EDIT:
And here it is

Ahhhh I remember it fondly!!
Mine said something like "10,000 or die". I can't remember if it came to London with me but will have a look tonight if I actually get out of work on time!
And Mike's chat up lines!!

I won't be posting much at all here anymore. I do lurk. I've seen lots of great things in the past few days, but none edit-proof enough to share here. That said...
Great news: Jeff has updated his website.
There is a tenative release date for his solo album, "THE PILGRIMAGE OF THINGAMUHJIG" (discussed in the interview above, which I conducted with him): April 10. At this time, he'll also unveil his new website.
There is no mention YET of touring on that release.
He was also involved in a few good projects in 2009 that we're now just finding out about: Leigh Williams, Taka Minamino, and Damir Simic Shime - check out his site. :)

hey Jenn!
thanks for the interview, it was an interessting read!!
I read across a couple of phrases, which seem to be typos IMO.
"better that most guitarists" p.11 and "I've always been enjoyed guitar music" p.8 sound kind of weird...
I don't know wether these are typos by jeff and you kept them for authenticity, but wanted to let you know anyway.
I'd have loved to see petruccis face when this drunk guy fell into his room from out of nowhere...
great story.
