Ooh!
Great find! Thanks for sharing!!

It's definitely new.
Published May 9, 2009. And it's *definitely* interesting.

It's been blogged. So much for post #400 being "not Paul". The guy I wanted to be #400 didn't get back to me, so... Paul it is, and I could not be happier... :)

Thanks for posting dude. 8) . Cool interview.

Don't worry Paul, I love your singing. :D

I'm pursuing a reunion tour with Mr. Big, and also, I have an instrumental guitar career, a project with Freddie, Racer X, a tour package called Guitar Generation which is similar to Joe Satriani's G3...

He hasn't forgotten. He better not have.

Brand New Interview with Paul Gilbert

He discusses:

United States, Freddie Nelson, the Euro tour / Craig, lots of talk about Mr. Big (and where they might go...), Racer X, etc etc etc. It's 3400+ words.

Billy Sheehan was interviewed an hour later; his interview (also mostly about Mr. Big) is linked off that page.

Read them carefully/thoroughly.

Same stuff, different format, for the textually challenged:

(those are also on the text page)

Enjoy :)

Paul kinda evaded the whole Racer X thing again, but no bother, his career continues. :)

Another new PG interview...

Paul Gilbert Talks To Crusher Mag., May '09

Check it out so you can find out what the Mount Everests of music are to him, and what walking through the music woods might be like, and other great Gilbertisms regarding United States, what he plays for fun, etc... :)

"What were the other tricky ones? Actually, the beginning melody of “Paris Hilton Look-Alike” is really… That one’s crazy. It’s not incredibly fast like some other things I’ve done in the past, but I think any guitar player trying to play it will tear their hair out. [Laughs] I don’t know if it’s my cool habit but a lot of my playing over the years, it’s almost like leaving booby traps for the poor guitar player who is trying to learn my stuff. I can’t help but make things difficult. [Laughs] …"

LOL

I feel the same :D Since I'm practicing fast playing I feel a need to play the most terrifying and difficult licks I possibly can :D

Two more new PG interviews...

Paul Gilbert Talks To Yes Weekly, June '09

I knew he'd be doing tons of press over there. This one is brief (but good), in full native English, and it's a bit of a tranquil respite from the Mr. Big hulabaloo that's currently going on.

This next one is a GEM. It's in PDF format (with pics!), but only 653 kb, so about the same size as most other blog pages. He teaches us intervals, tells us his favorite chord, tells you guys how to get the girls! And way more cool stuff...

Oh, cool, glad you like that!

And another...

Paul Gilbert interview with MetalHunter, 10/08

That one is also PDF, but only 550K - even tinier - and also transcribed from poor quality video.

So that's it for now. Two great interviews. Hopefully more to come soon!

I love to sing, but my voice is just limited. I wish I could travel to the store, buy a Ronnie James Dio, and install it in my throat, though I'm stuck with my own voice. I enjoy my voice, but I just have a lower register. I can't hit really high notes, and am stuck down low somewhat.

Paul knows the shit.

Great interview!

Here's a new (somewhat brief) interview with Paul:

http://www.jasonshadrick.com/2009/08/27 ... l-gilbert/

From the head honcho at National Guitar Workshop. It's very enlightening. Make sure to check it out!

As an aside, I know now what award Wartypig (Lee M.) should be nominated for: Most Utilized Good Photos Of Paul Gilbert. We LOVE your work, Wartypig!!

Here's something brief, a video interview [older]... I gather this "isabelcolega" gets all of the Wowow stuff?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIEuQ8T1TxI

"paul gilbert interw and dow to mexico wowow tv japan"

I haven't watched it, but it looks to be 2002-2003 from the freeze frame preview. I could be wrong. So that's 2 interviews which are new to us in the past few weeks... which is, of course, awesome.

A new interview (Sept. 11, 2009) with Paul Gilbert, by Metalsucks.

Check that one out for sure.

"you’ve got a guy like Guthrie Govan, who’s an amazing guitar player, but he’s only known to other guitar players. If I can have anything to do with turning that around and [grandly] bringing guitar back to the people, that’d be great.

Who?

As you see, only guitar people know him. His name is Guthrie Govan. He’s all over Youtube. He’s just a stunning guitar player."

Levi! LEVI! Read this!!
