Post Beginning of Hammer Away
Hi, newbie here... I've been listening to Hammer Away in live Extreme Volume and before the actual there's a sort of anthem-type tune... Well what is it? Is it an already existing piece of music or did Paul and Racer X write it? I tried to use the search button to see if there was an existing thread about this, but didn't find anything... Well thanks in advance, bye and (obviously) Rock on!

It was posted before....but I'm pretty sure it was on the old board (pre-crash).

Apparently, it's another JS Bach or JC Bach piece....

But...it sure sounds like Whiter Shade Of Pale to me!

Yes its got to be Whiter Shade of Pale. It just is. That song is really well known in England.

I know the piece of Classical you mean because some Twat done a dance Remix of it in the Charts over here about 3 years ago but its not what PG plays

Sorry resurrect an old thread...but this SOLVES MANY THINGS!!!

The members of Procol Harum are in court, suing over song writing credits....but what caught my eye...was this paragraph.

Brooker has said the melody was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's "Air on the G String" and "Sleepers Awake."

So....given the liner notes. The intro to Hammer Away is "Air On The G String" by JS Bach.

And they did rip it off...:)

I remember watching "The Commitments" (great movie) & the keyboard player is playing in church & talking to their manager. Next thing you know he starts singing "Whiter Shade". Pretty cool.
