We're planning Sunlit nights in few months.
Street lethal and Scarified are very very hard songs, especially soloing, you guys have to be a hell of a good players then to take it down 100% and play it like that ;).

Racer X's songs are not easy, everything has to be accurate to sound as it should.

Well, good luck! 8)

Oh an btw, i'd really like to hear how do you play Street lethal or Scarified with your bands. Post some recordings if can ;)

A few years ago, I assembled a (short-lived) band from guys I met over the internet... one of them posted at this forum under the name "MetalGandalf" or "Joel" or whatever. We were planning to play "Give It To Me" at a battle of the bands, but we never saw each other again after one rehearsal.

To our credit, we got YYZ down to the beat in just four hours of practice together... as well as the major parts of the other four songs.

My band has been known to do "Into the Night" at a show every once and awhile.

We usually stumble through "Viking Kong" and "Into the Night".

I'd really like to play "Technical Difficulties" and "Frenzy", but it's just a matter of the others learning it, then us all learning to play it together. :?

But don't we all need permission from Paul and the guys to play the Racer X songs? :?

:D

If we manage to record some I'll post it up. Were like a bunch of 16 and 14 year olds don't expect anything mind blowing!

We sometimes jam to Scarified..... Which is very fun :D

Damn interesting how many people are able to play all the solos from Into the night, Viking Kong, Street lethal, Scarified, Technical difficulites and so on .. :)
Good to see that there are many good players around here!
It takes some time to learn those masterpieces i guess.

Anyway, i've heard people "playing the solos" of the songs above, but couldn't say that lots of them really PLAYED THE SOLO as it should be, taking all the concepts of the rhytm, playing right tones, hearing the difference of straight picking or legato, etc....

The one who really PLAYED Racer X's solos as they should be played is that Japanese guy .. Take, Peter Lidstrom and one Greek guy playing Scarified ..

Seriously, don't wanna be arrogant, but i'm a bit sceptic. Could be wrong, but then i must be missing a lot of great guitar players.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm always looking forward to hear those solos played and recorded :D.

Bring 'em public!

That's just my point....don't we need permission from Paul + Racer X in order to play the songs, never mind record them?

I don't wanna infringe any rights....OR swindle money from Racer X... :(

I don't think so, George...

Let's say Second heat album covers Moonage Daydream from David Bowie and they recorded it on album, or let's just think of Metallica's Garage days ... i think it's more of a promotion to do cover, basically every band starts with covers .. well almost everyone ;)

VERY true...We started out doing the entire "Dookie" album.

Anyway, all the profits of our first album (only covers) went to a local hospice for the terminally ill. :?

My band mates and I plan to perform Scarified in the near future. Most of the song is comfortable to do after a few intense rehearsal sessions. The end section will be re-arranged as "normal" triplet sweep-picked arpeggios instead of those inhuman string-skipping shapes.

I watched Sean and Alfie pull it off. They got it.

Well, I really don't see why anyone would want to play them verbatim, you need to add your own touch!
