Post Racer Axe - New Australian Racer X coverband
Just came across this the other day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuxJDL49idU

Check out the Facebook page - sounds like shows being played later this year. Hopefully not just a one off.

(check out the Scarified cover in one of the older posts)

I think this is the closest thing to Racer X anyone at least within Australia will get to see.
The guitarists, Simon Hosford and James Ryan are both amazing players.

Amazing

Very brilliant.

If I have a single negative thing to say, it's that although the singer is great, his style of singing is not really the one I'd expect to hear in a Racer X song.
His voice is a bit more rough.

But that's only a matter of personal preference really, so I'm not really criticizing.
I'll actually listen to that a few more times (:

I'm with Acid regarding vocals. Bitchin' cover though. I love the tone.

Another video is out this time for Motorman

Aside from the playing, the standout thing for me is the vocal harmonies - makes a massive difference to the overall performance.

I'm willing to bet that given the opportunity Jeff would sing with those guys. This is the closest we can get to the real thing.

I wonder what it would take to make that happen! It would be interesting to know whether he or any of the others in the band have seen this ... I purely came across it by accident when watching the community tv station that first aired Into the Night... Would kick myself if missed the show.

Interestingly, looking through James Ryans (guitarist in Racer Axe) YouTube channel, he does an excellent cover of Ladies Night in Buffalo from Eat Em and Smile. The YouTube summary mentions that he was planning a full album live tribute to that in 2015... I don't know that eventuated, maybe to instead make way for Racer Axe which is a worthwhile sacrifice.

As cool as it would be to have Jeff sing with them, I think their singer is doing a great job. These guys actually got me into listening to Racer X again.
