"In January 2002, Racer X did a tour of Japan and Taipei. The following pictures are screen captures from Paul's guitar tech, Weasel, who video taped the show. Yes...someday it will be up."

From what I remember, the audio is so messed up that Paul didn't want to release the video.

His guitar solo can be found on the Get Out Of My Yard DVD (I think that's the one)

I'm sure I've seen the Superheroes video from that gig. It's played in standard or something and Jeff Martin acts as a human capo for the intro.....?

If true this is SO DISAPPOINTING!!!

True fans don't care about crappy audio or if a band is having a bad night, its all about special live moments in the history of the band... I have TONS of "bad" quality live audio and video from most of my favorite bands from The Beatles to Van Halen and even Racer X and as a fan I cherish them like no other... These shows in full Superhero costume that were ONLY done in Japan were one of those special moments in the history of Racer X, and for Paul to not want to share it with the real fans here on this board (just because he wasnt happy with the quality of the show) is absurd!!!... I mean really lets think about this for a minute, how many of us have lived on this board FOR YEARS TRYING to keep alive the memory of the once great band we all love(d) in the hopes that one day MAYBE we will hear of possible new RX material or MAYBE a one off show or two here or there... SHAME ON US FOR NOT LIVING IN JAPAN to be able to see these shows... I understand the fact that a Racer X tour here in the states is unheard of BUT do you really think they would've had any problems selling out a couple of nights here in Hollywood at the House of Blues doing the Superheros in costume show??? OF COURSE NOT!!! I've always said that I would support PG no matter what he did and I still stand by that to a certain degree, but in all honesty I haven't even been interested to see him play live anymore, the last few shows have been nothing but obscure cover tunes... I mean as "nostalgic" as it is to see PG do his best Jim Morrison or Johnny Cash impression for me personally has just grown tired... hearing his latest solo disc on youtube has even distanced me further... Yes he is still Paul Fucking Gilbert the greatest guitarist since the invention of the wheel, and while he still employs many of the licks and tricks that made us all fans, for me his recent body of work just doesnt move me anymore... I remember when hearing Pauls work immediately made me want to pick up my guitar and play and practice my technique or even try to copy his licks or riffs, etc..... I understand that as an artist you grow or mature or whatever you want to call it, and at the end of the day PG is free to do what ever the hell he wants to do creatively, but again I for one am very disappointed... And to know that there exists a "RARE JEWEL" out there in the form of a video of these Superhero Japan shows (and again I don't care how poor the quality is or the fact that it was shot from the side of the stage etc...) and to know that we will likely never see it just plain FUCKING SUCKS!!!!!!!

 rant over.............................................for now

I hear ya. I'll link the relevant post a bit later. In the meantime there's also this: viewtopic.php?t=3857&highlight=bruce

I don't get it either. I mean we drool over stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89fvxO0Csz4 and that's one of the better sounding bootlegs out there. My version of the Jezabels gig is a tiny 325x240 window and the footage is mostly grain. Do I care? Fuck no.

CAN WE ASK KEN TO ASK PAUL AGAIN?

I say this because when Ken asked Paul ages ago, the internet was completely different. We all had shitty connections (I had dial-up lol) and YouTube wasn't as popular. Nowadays, Paul has more camphone uploads than ever and "shitty audio" isn't an excuse to put out something that us Racer X fans, who are now on the edge of tearing this place apart, have been waiting for since the dawn of time.
