Post A Whiter Shade Of Pale On LEVII
Ha!!
I was just watching this program that shows re-runs of old pop videos from the 60's and I heard a familiar tune...Thought about it and BAM! Into to Hammer Away on LEVII! :o

This maybe old news to some but it's new to me since I never heard of that song or band before. :?

Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum [1967]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T7WujWr ... re=related

Hammer Away - Racer X [1988]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vq2EM-bRtQ

It's not note for note but it's defiantly the same tune.

And I think Procol Harum may have even borrowed it from Beethoven! :D

To be honest it did sound a little classical...Bach eh? Cool! 8) Didn't know that.

Found this:
''The Hammond organ line of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sleepers, Wake!" and "Air on the G String".''

Thanks. :)

You never noticed the "Intro based on a theme by J.S. Bach" printed on the song list on your LEVII CD?

Well, despite Procol Harum basing their melody on J.S. Bach's "Sleepers, Wake!" and "Air on the G String", Racer X are definitely playing A Whiter Shade of Pale pretty much note for note! They can pretend they're playing "a theme by J.S. Bach" for pride's sake if they want...! :P

I guess saying they just had the same (purely coincidental) fortuitous interpretation of Bach as Procol Harum saves them paying any royalties to PH? :P
