Snowball of Doom DVD - NTSC only?
Hey folks! Just found some clips of the snowball of doom DVD which reminded me of the DVDs existence. But so far I read NTSC over and over everywhere: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.a ... 9138&BAB=ESince I lack experience with these things: will it run on my PAL-player anyway? And what's the quality of the recordings like? Where did you get your copy? (europeans especially) Thanks everyone,

I've never tried it, but I'm quite certain that NTSC can not run on a PAL player. NTSC runs at roughly 30 fps and PAL runs at 25.

its not NTSC (region 1), 99% of music DVDs are actually region 0 (plays on anything)

Oh, I didn't know there is a "region anywhere". I always wondered when they would get rid of this region-nonesense.... Good to know it will work. Thanks!

Here is what you do, you buy it, and then download the torrent. then burn that.
or you can just rip the dvd and reburn it. just dont give it away to anyone else, that is where you get to illegal territory.

Re: Snowball of Doom DVD - NTSC only?
Why should I buy an item I have absolutely no use for? If it does have a region that my player can't handle, my computer will neither be able to do a copy, since my BR-Drive is bound to a region as well. I have downloaded half of it already, that's why I want to buy it now. It's not that I'm afraid of beeing in illegal territory, it's just that I like to pay for something I enjoy as much as I enjoy this concert. But I was not about to buy something I can't use just to calm my conscience.
But if Miss is right, everything will be fine anyway.

This being the bands board, they can just send a DMCA claim and have the videos removed.
I don't see an issue with posting youtube links, it isnt a download, and watching youtube videos isn't illegal.

Watching youtube isn't illegal, but posting copyrighted content is. You can lose your youtube account for uploading copyrighted content. Unless the band or record label or whoever owns that copyright gave someone permission to do so it never should have been uploaded to youtube. I don't mind if someone posts a small clip, but they shouldn't post the whole thing. If someone wants to see the entire thing they should buy it, thats what I did. And the DVD should be higher quality than youtube.

You can't distinguish between someone posting a small clip (like a single song) and posting the whole thing, either way it is copyright infringement. I think we just need to overhaul the copyright system honestly. And about the buying it thing, the numbers on pirating, mostly show that its people that wouldnt have bought it either way, whether it was free online or not. Some people just don't buy media.

In some cases you can. Using a portions is sometimes allowable under fair use. How much is allowable is debatable.
