It doesn't say anything about bonus tracks. I thought all Japanese domestic releases had to have bonus tracks to compete with the less expensive imports there. Maybe that's a surprise we'll find out about later!

I'm waiting for Ken to hop in here with a smug "yeah, Paul mentioned that back in January" (he always has the inside track and it's awesome!) and then dish on some details for us! ;)

No. Jeff just told me of the POSSIBILITY of this, last weekend. Didn't have any details...so I laid off.

I do NOT know, if these are just re-releases or full remasters.

This is Paul's label....it's a guy from Universal Japan, who started his own label...and has bought the Racer X back catalog. The ONLY speculation, is "usually", this would mean the label requesting a tour (in Japan of course) to promote the new re-releases. I know Jeff and Scott would go for sure, no questions asked.

Ken, you've delivered the goods once again. You rock! Thank you so much for sharing those details with all of us.

OK, so I have gathered, from your post - King Records is Paul's label, begun on the impetus of a Unversal Japan 'rogue' (said as a compliment, tongue-in-cheek). Basically, all of this was put in to motion by Paul, and King Records. (it looks like King bought quite a bit o Shrapnel's back catalog for Japan). So if Racer X does an Invisibility Tour (in 2011 unless he is going to cram it in to the last week of 2010), it will be because of Paul. That's a very cool move on his part!

... amazing how the guy can take so much heat & blame, and keep on keepin' on with his chipper self.

The original GoogleTranslated text said that it was tenative if there would be re-masters. If it happens, that's awesome. If it doesn't, but Paul still brings the band-guys over to Japan for a little jaunt, that's awesome too. If it's just a re-release to raise the profile of Racer X to a new generation of Japanese fans, that's great as well.

If they tour: Live DVD!

That sucks!

I got an email saying that the Cacophony albums were also going to be remastered, but Sean´s news are too bad.

Come on Varney, get some remastered action on those amazing crappy sounding albums your label has!!!

Out of the Shrapnel catalog, who else has made it as "big" as Racer X?

They deserve more!

So will we have to wait another 4 years for Extreme Volume II Live?

I have an extra unwrapped copy sitting in my closet. I never saw the reason to open it when Amazon sent a duplicate (at no extra charge, I was told). As for the re-releases of the albums, I'd only be excited if it were remastered. Second Heat, I think, suffers from the worst mix. I would love to hear a remixed, remastered version!

True.

The first two albums suffer the most, but specially Second Heat. I personally don't like the way Street Lethal sounds, and it's not because of the production not the masterizing. It's just I don't dig Paul's tone there.

But Second Heat... you can feel it should sound much more awesome than that. RX Remasters would kick ass, and I'd buy them.

If it's possible to remaster, then sure, I'd get one.

I got used to the sound of the first Racer X albums: From Street Lethal to Extreme Volume I. But I remember I've always thought the mixing sounded like shit. Extreme Volume II does far more juste to Racer X.

I'd love to hear a remastered edition of the first Racer X albums. Because every time I switch from a song out of Superheroes to a song out of Second Heat, I know the change in the mix will disappoint me. Switching from the song: Superheroes to the song Hammer Away makes the latter song sound so weak, although both songs are so awesome.

The first Racer X albums definitely need some work on guitars to make them sound a little less like mush.

The end of Scarified is pretty much complete mush on Second Heat.
