Sick riff, unbelievable solo, and my favorite Jeff Martin vocals.

Some of my friends actually used to think Rob Halford was singing on that one.

The live version with the harmonized tappings is just.........oh god it's amazing!

Only problem with the live is that the crowd sings really bad

If I understand correctly, Judas Priest actually did the song first, but it didn't make it onto any Judas Priest ALBUM.

I've also heard that the band Halford did a version after Racer X did.

You can hear a demo of Heart Of A Lion with Halford on vocals on the Judas Priest Metalogy Boxset... Disc 3 I think. I got it. It's nice... I have no idea who's playing the other instruments.

I wanted to post it on the board... but Ken pointed his gun at me. (Let's have more innuendos). It's too bad though... this demo is only found on a limited edition boxset... I'd like to share it with other Judas Priest fans.

I heard Judas Priest's version on XM radio one time & it was cool to hear their take on it. I wish it was easier to find, though. :?

I just herd it! :D

It's quite good, you can hear the vocals a bit better, probably because Racer X's had reverb...

But the solo does not compare to Racer X's

Both very good though!

So did Racer X cover it because Jeff knew Priest? :?

Jeff was (is?) friends with Halford, and Rob said Priest didn't want the song. So it was like... Priest "gave" RX the song.

Well... the way I understand it:
Heart Of A Lion didn't make it to Turbo and Jeff thought it was the best song from all the songs written for Turbo. Jeff asked Rob if Racer X could do it, and he agreed.

Glenn Tipton was pissed when he learned Rob had given all the rights to Racer X during... Jeff's birthday was it?... Somehow I remember something about Rob giving the rights to Jeff for his birthday... but it's not mentionned on this page I dug up.

http://www.maddrakket.com/TURBO.html

Anyone can confirm?

Oh, and the bit you wanna look for on that page you will find by doing this:
ctrl+f and search this: was not on the TURBO
Your navigator should send you straight to the interesting bit that is at the beginning of the second half of the page.

The birthday bit is mentionned here.

http://www.search.com/reference/Racer_X_(band)

But Ken will tell you not to read this as it is the work of Satan.
Seriously though, Ken will tell you to stick to this version:

Don't know the exact year.
Around the same time Turbo was written.
