Post Paul's Ampeg V-4 and Lee Jackson Bassman
Hi I'm new here. When I was in vegas on vacation I visited Cowtown guitars and spotted an ampeg V-4 labeled "Paul #2" on the front. Being a big racer x fan and knowing Paul used one with his ada mp-1 I asked the guy at the desk about it who told me it was Paul's and that it came in with about 100 pieces of different equipment (including 40 guitars and whole crates of pedals) that Paul had sold to them, having lived in the area at one point. He also said that the old lee jackson modded fender bassman they had used to be Paul's too. I think that those were the only two pieces of gear from Paul they still had left. They said almost everything, even the pedals, had been modded and that they had no idea what half of the knobs on the modded bassman did.

Here's the V-4-

I didn't get a picture of the back of the V-4, but it had jacks with "preamp in" labeled above them.

I got to play through the bassman (I didn't know what half the knobs did but I was able to figure out a few) and the tone was great, very similar to my metaltronix M-1000.

Hope the pictures turn out alright I'm new to this. You can click on the thumbnails to make them bigger.

WELCOME!

That has to be one of the most informative first posts...

That sounds like a cool diversion vacation trip. "Honey, let's stop over at this music store, just for a few minutes, I promise..." ;)

edit: Thanks for putting up the thumbnails. The big pics are HUGE and would scroll the page for sure if you posted them.

[interesting stuff] The stickers look like they are in Paul's handwriting. Not sure though but it looks close.

So he sold the stuff to them? He didn't consign it?! I coulda sworn with the sheer volume of equipment that was reported to have been in that shop at one time, and the prices the gear was selling for, that it was a consignment deal.

LOL whole crates of pedals. I believe it. Apparently he still has whole crates of pedals. [/interesting stuff]

Thanks for sharing this... it was really cool of you.

Hey thanks for the welcome! It may have been a consignment deal I can't remember the store guy's exact words. I don't know if it shows up it the pics but the V-4 had loads of marker all over the front and back pointing to different settings and things.
