Post A Racer X Interview: C. Jensen, E. Pauner vs. Paul Gilbert
http://www.intromentalzine.com/interviews/racerx.html

It has no date, but appears to have been done right around the time of them re-forming which is... ages ago. Your assignment: Read it, enjoy it, date it. (tell me the year.)

The questions are almost as good as the answers.

excerpt:
"The regular costume store was closed so we had to improvise. The hardware store and the local S&M sex shop were the only places open."

LOL!

btw: if this has been posted 12 times in the past, sorry... I have no clue how to ferret out un-dated interview crossposts on any site, let alone this one. btw #2: I *almost* put this in side projects... I'm that used to posting any interview there! LOL.

Cool interview!

This is probably from 2001, cince it's about the Superheroes record.

Paul's reason for keeping it solo:

Quote:
I prefer to keep them separate. Plus, I'm spoiled with Japanese shows where there are no support bands and you get to control the whole show!

Interviewer FAIL:

Quote:
Racer X used to be quite a success in Japan in the late eighties, with several live albums out over there

Cool, glad you guys are likin' it.

Thank you -- I didn't know if it would be 2001 or 2002. :)

They do have a lot of live bootleg videos in Japan (including the one that keeps getting yanked off YouTube); maybe this is what the guy is referring to? Because it seems the rest of his questions are from a very knowledgeable perspective.

Superheroes was released in Dec 2000. It was right around that time, give or take a couple months.

Since there is no mention of the Whisky Show on May 25, 2001 and I knew about that show in probably February/March....I'd say it's January/February 2001.

Ken, thanks for the pinpoint date.

About being half-Polish: He doesn't usually mention it. It's easy to overlook.

I saw a reference / crosslink entry "Americans of Polish descent" on Wikipedia right when I was starting up the blog which had me wonder... are they correct? Then I found this vid:

I dunno if that's how Lamer found out or not but that's how I found out. It's quite cool!

Unfortunately the search button powers only work if you are logged in, at least on that thread, which is why I never knew it existed until now... I have searched while logged in maybe twice.

Anders...

Racer X didn't break up. They are just a very inactive band. They rarely do stuff. Their silence and the band-guys' work in other areas of music does not mean they broke up! If what you want is for them to play some more shows or put some more material out to the public in the near future... that is more accurate, and who knows, maybe it will happen, maybe not, stay hopeful! :)

It's cool that you guys appreciated that int. I found it by accident.

I don't mean to intrude but it sure feels like they broke up and i'm pretty certain Anders will agree with me.

EDIT: Forgot to say how much i appreciated you sharing this with us. Besides, it's a very cool interview :).
