I voted Billy on the strength of the amount of good Guitarists he's been with.

Moving to the Music Mall....Good question, but not related to Racer X.

John isn't related to Racer X???

As I see it, it's essentially a Racer X vs Mr. Big type question (i.e. which of Paul's bass players is better).

It's your board, Ken. But there's not much going on with Racer X these days. If you're this strict, the Racer X portion of the forum is going to be pretty empty.

BTW, I voted for John.

Are you kidding me? Both are class acts, but Billy would mop the floor with him.

Jaco still owns though

Billy has far more technique & showmanship, but John/Juan has much more groove/soul. I ended up voting for BIlly after much deliberation.

yeah its a tough one
billy has a lot more history with him
he wasnt restricted at toto or dlr or mr big
dont get me wrong juan is great as well
but a lot of the times when paul and bruce solo
juan is confined to more rhythm and grooves
and less of those flashy techniques

this groove and soul must be something else than Racer X.

Another thing to think of is that Billy Sheehan is self taugh while John/Juan Aldrete is classical trained?*teacher*.

I haven't voted yet, i haven't heard very much of either but i think billy sheehan is more of a show guy, you know the 7min solo before the battle with paul etcc... even though i think billy sheehans improvised live solos suck ass i kinda enjoy watch 'em.

Also, billy sheehan taught me to use 3fingers.
