Post A Tribute to Brett Davis
Normally....Rap wouldn't find it's way into a Racer X thread, but in this case it will.

Basically, this website (run by me) wouldn't exist without Brett Davis. If you read this very old thread, you'd know the story from long ago.

http://www.racerxband.com/board/viewtop ... c&start=40

The digest version is, Brett turned me on to Racer X and I instantly became a huge fan ever since. Brett was a heavy metal guy...he played guitar (pretty decent guitar player) and his favorite stuff was Racer X, Yngwie and Living Colour. However, Brett was also friends from Oakland rappers, Digital Underground.

On their hit, Dowhatulike, Brett was put into the video. While thinking of Brett today, I decided to try to find the video which I had seen it on Mtv once back in the day. Of course...I found it on YouTube.

Brett can be seen in the opening scene as the Apartment manager, a few scenes throughout and at the end...at the bottom of the pool.

After becoming the webmaster and losing track of Brett...I felt like I had to find him to tell him that I was now the webmaster for Racer X, his favorite band. It took me 3 years of searching and asking friends to find him.

Unfortunately there was no happy ending. Brett had died of a heart attack at 38 years old, just about the time I became webmaster.

Only Brett's spirit will know his influence provided this site to you all. So this why I post a rap video...so you all can see Brett Davis....

The real "father" of the Racer X site.

It's cool that they put him in their video. I didn't really care for that song, but I did take the time to listen to another of theirs. I didn't know what these guys sang The Humpty Dance (which I only know by the chorus).

That guy makes me think "Black Groucho Marx".

Of course, the point that I kind of glazed over was that this guy deserves credit for us being here, talking about Racer X. And for that, I do thank him, and I was sorry to hear that he'd gone. :(

iam really sad to hear that to Ken... Dont blame yourself for not telling him in time. I think that he would be really proud of you now! and what you acomplished! And if he was a real hardcore RacerX fan he MUST have seen what you have done but never realized it was you!

Rest In Peace, Brett

Yeah and i wish metal was like the 80s ... everything is going downhill... lower and lower in tuning and the rap like Ken said is not very nice nowadays! Compare the fresh prince in bell air intro with rolling ....

i dunno. Am i the only one stuck in the 80s ? i just like some stuff from the newer bands but domenant 80s :S
