Post Paul Story from the 80s
Okay here is a story that i got from a forum, this guy told me the story of meeting Paul enjoy =)

Quote:
Hi there
Yes, I did work with Paul many times, as I said, when he was in the band Giant. Their manager, Dave Nichols, got my partner and I several gigs working with Giant doing pa and lights for them. As I said in your thread, once we opened for Foghat (don't know if you're familiar with them) at a club in Morgantown, West Virginia, now I'm talking about 20 years ago. Paul was a skinny kid who had a great sense of humor and was just such a natural at playing guitar. You could tell even back then that he was going to be something special. I remember when we first got a gig booked with them, my partner told me that Paul was going to be the next Eddie VH, and he did play a lot like Eddie (who was Paul's hero), on a side note, I also got to work with Eddie VH's guitar hero Alan Holdsworth one time. I do recall that we were backstage before one show started and Paul was in a particularly good mood and he said he was going to do something funny during his guitar solo. So, sure enough when he did his solo, in the middle of it he stopped playing and just stood there shaking his head from side to side with great velocity while making this strange sound, sort of a raspberry sound if you know what I mean. Just exhaling and spitting and making this strange sound, we all got a good laugh out of it
Paul did the wise thing and moved out to California (we were all from Pennsylvania) and got RacerX going, then of course he got into Mr. Big with another local guy Billy Sheehan, who was also in a very popular local band here, if I remember right they were named Talas. Last I heard Paul was an instructor at a music school in Ca. teaching guitar.
How did you hear of Paul and RacerX? Are you familiar with Mr. Big?

I hope this gives you a little insight as to Paul, as I said, you could tell even back then that he was destined to be something special, too bad more people haven't heard of him and his amazing talent. Feel free to pm me back if you like about how you got to know about him.

Rock on!,
Orwell.

Maybe Robin is more curious as to WHY Paul would do that.

That is a rather interesting story though, so thank you for showing us!
