Post Hillarious Paul Gilbert story
OK...so I'm talking to Joey Tafolla tonight on the phone about NAMM in January, and the topic of "Out Of The Sun" came up. As you may or may not know, Paul played all over that record.

Anyway...Paul finishes his solos for "Zero Hour" and Joey and Tony MacAlpine are in the control booth, and Tony asks Paul...(Insert Tony MacAlpine voice here) "Um...how do you get your sound, Paul?"

Paul simply replies, "Well, what you do is you throw out anything with a Peavey logo on it."

LOL...that was pretty good. Ribbing between the guitar gods.

The reason why I am changing my rig is because I am sick of Peavey! I love my XXX but that is about it. I like the classic Marshall tones ( Including Zakk Wyldes metal tone) and the PGM guitar sound! I will try my hardest to get a PGM 10th someday.

I ALWAYS thought Peavey gear bit the big one. Shit made bass tones sound like they were run through a transistor radio.

I love the amps that really push power and clarity. My Peavey TNT cant push an old grandma down a flight of stairs... I turn the thing up to a hear-able volume and the shizza starts to rattle and get all distorted. If I remember correctly, GOOD amps dont get all fuzzy when you turn them up to a good audible over drums level... or maybe my amp is just f00b00d.

I like the sound of John's rig, though. Killer.

My first head was a peav. (That sentence could be misconstrued!)

TONY MACALPINE IS PLAYING THE COACH HOUSE ON 12/9!!!!!!

"Despite being highly technical players, the individual members - keyboardist Sherinian, drummer Virgil Donati, and guitarist Tony MacAlpine - strive for cohesion over chaos. "

Hell yeah I'd play Peavey if Paul did...

I'd change my butt-wipe brand to Pauls if I thought it would make me sound like him...

I bet Paul could pick up a shit-box Peavey guitar missing 2 strings, plug it through a TNT with a ripped speaker and it would still sound smokin'...

I remember the first Ying Yang tour, the band I was roadie-ing for got to open for him...Our guitar player got to play Yingwies strat guitar thru the massive walls of Marshalls of Yingwies during soundcheck...Even with Yingwies setup, he still couldn't sound like a good knockoff...He said the guitar was actually hard to play because of the massive scalloping on the neck...
