This is crazy. Just a few years ago, I was thinking, "Alderete is one of the greatest, but guys like Mark Hoppus are making the cover of Bass Guitar magazine and making their own basses." Now, he's finally getting his credit.

Hope his bass rules. I might try to track one down once I get some money.

Blink was selling hundreds of thousands (possibly milions) of records at the time. That gives you a better shot than most to get covers and a signature model.

John is a great player and is definately worthy of having a sig model.

Hopefully there will be a non custom shop version so I can possibly justify picking one up.

True. But that wouldn't explain Roscoe Beck and Stu Hamm getting signature Fender basses.

I think Alderete was just under the radar for many years. I think he even got more press when he was in The Scream; it's almost as if people had forgotten that he existed. Then, he joined the Mars Volta, and it was like, "oh yeah."
