Post <-Paul Gilbert Discography->
Ok, after finding out about all of Paul's teenage bands, I was curious as to what else he's been up to when he wasn't playing with Racer X, Mr. Big and playing his solo album material etc. So I'd like for this thread to be a nice organised and chronological list of everything that Paul has ever played on, whether it be his own band or performing a guest solo on someone elses. If there's already a list like this and is up-to-date, let me know and the Surg can delete this, thanks.

I'll add the ones I know already so just throw at me all the ones I've missed and I'll add them to this first post. Hopefully everyone can find out something they never knew. I know I found out alot today. :)

(Btw, I've seen the thread where Paul personally listed all the bands he played in before RX but he didn't say whether he recorded anything with them so I'll leave those out unless someone knows for sure that there's a recording out there.) Here we go:

1981: Missing Lynx (Recorded a "live" demo in an abondoned room above a record store)

1982: Tao Zero (Paul played and recorded an unaccompanied solo with these guys which was the first thing he ever sent to Mike Varney at Shrapnel Records)

1983: Giant (They played a bunch of covers and also wrote and recorded two songs that would later be done by Racer X: "Living the Hard Way" and "Let's Split the Light", which Jeff Martin re-wrote to become "Hammer Away")

1984: Black Sheep (Recorded an album where Paul's guitar sounds "buzzy" because of his desicion to use the direct-out socket on his amp instead of mic'ing it up)

1985: Darrell Mansfield - Revelation (Guitar, guest on "Jesus will Reign" and "After the storm")

1986: Racer X - Street Lethal

1986: Jeff Berlin - Pump it (Guitar, guest on "Crossroads" and "Freight Train Shuffle")

1987: Racer X - Second Heat

1987: Joey Tafolla - Out of the Sun (Guitar, guest solos on "Zero hour", "Stalingrad", "Truce with Kings" and "Nine Tomorrows")

1988: Racer X - Live Extreme Volume 1/2

1989: Mr. Big - Mr. Big

1989: Guitar's Practicing Musicians (Track 6, El Becko: Bass, Guitar, Producer, drum programming)

1990: Mr. Big - Live! Raw like Sushi I

1990: Mr. Big - "Navy Seals" Soundtrack album

1991: Mr. Big - Lean Into It

1991: Paul Gilbert - A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix (live at the 1991 Frankfurt Jazz Festival).

1992: Mr. Big - Live ! Raw like Sushi II

1992: Guitars That Rule the World (Guitar, producer, engineer, mixing Track 4, I understand completely)

1992: L.A. Blues Authority (Guitar track 9, The Hunter)

1993: Mr. Big - Bump Ahead

1994: Mr. Big - Japandemonium

1994: Smoke on the water - A tribute to Deep Purple (Maybe I'm a Leo)

1995: Jeffology - A guitar chronicle (Track1, Heart full of soul)

1995: Carmine Appice's Guitar Zeus (guest solos on tracks 1 and 14)

1996: Merry Axemas - A Guitar Christmas

1996: The Szuters (Produced by Paul)

1996: Ernesto D'alessio - Ernesto D'alessio (Acoustic guitar)

1996: Mr. Big - Hey Man

1996: Akira Takasaki - 輪 (Wa) (Guest on "Alien Summit")

1997: Mr. Big - Live at Budokan

1997: Samad - Samad (Guest on "Joget" and "Animo"

1998: Paul Gilbert - King of Clubs

1998: Jeff Berlin - Crossroads (guitar)

1998: Gregg Bissonette - Greg Bissonette (guitar)

1998: Pat Torpey - Odd Man Out (Guest on "Jack The One Eyed Jill" and "I Really Don't Mind")

2005: Paul Gilbert - Spaceship One

2005: Yellow Matter Custard - One Night in New York City (live)

2005: Welcome to the Nightmare - An All-Star Salute to Alice Cooper (Guitar on "Only Women Bleed")

2005: Pintsize - Five Feet...No Inches

2006: Jeff Martin - The Fool (Paul plays on every track?)

2006: Hammer Of The Gods - Two Nights In North America

2006: Cygnus and the Sea Monsters

2006: Paul Gilbert - Get Out Of My Yard

2007: Neal Morse - "Sola Scriptura" (with Mike Portnoy & Paul Gilbert)

Alot of info came from this site and Wikipedia. There's additional info on most of the albums on there too.
Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this and of course, add stuff if you know of anything that's not there.

Either give me proof or stop spamming.

After reading the tracklist of that album and listening to some of it, I find it hard to beleive that it has anything to do with Paul. If it does, then I'm SHOCKED but I can't find a single pic of him.

I did find a nice pic of the lead singer on the toilet though haha. :P

 Haha! Okay then.

"Why do I want to be DICK IMAGE? Well first of all, it's my Uncle Jimi Kidd's name backwards. "ddik imij". But most of all it's because I have a big... "

That's rather amazing...

(The band, not the quote)

But yeah, Surg posted that pic I like. :P

I'll add that into the first post then.
