Post drumming and carpel tunnel
i dont play drums, but ive always been curious about drumming and carpel tunnel.

One of my friends who is a drummer got diagnosed with carpel tunnel 3 months ago. Sucks for him.

however, i have heard of ways to drum that prevent carpel tunnel. Anyone care to enlighten me on this?

probably comes down to technique. I used to play drums, I would hit harder than anyone else I knew, breaking 4-5 wooden sticks per practice - eventually I got metal sticks. I never got carpal tunnel from druming, but from playing guitar and gaming, I now have chronic tendinitis in my left hand.

I suck at drums. But i know guitar has saved my life. I was born without my right pec, and the doc said that if i wouldnt have played guitar, my arm would be completely drawn up by now... :? Dont know if this pertains to your topic?

No idea, i looked it up on google, and some sites directed me to "duck feet", and some too the missing pectoral.

Fucking Hell!!!!

If you get anything from drumming, then you're doing something wrong. I've been playing drums for about 5 years and I'm fine.

I've had carpal before,

i was out of commission for a year

it all comes down to poor technique - no matter the instrument there is always a looser more relaxed technique of playing it
