I know this is the forgotten forum but here it goes,

After seeing Paul's new instructional dvd where he demonstrates some bass sections from his song 12:12 I'm in love with his 12 string bass. It has such an incredible symphonic sound. I've sorta been planning on getting a bass for a while now but I don't really want a normal standard bass so I'm considering a 12 string.

After doing some searching I found out that his is a Hamer and they go for like $2500!

But I found this on guitar center's website:

It's a Dean Rhapsody 12 String Bass ... 9890%2e011

It's only 600 bucks so I just wanted to know if anybody has ANY info on these. Has anyone ever played, heard, seen, or even OWN one?

I played one at a local store once.
It sounded really cool, just like an octaver effect, with the difference that it's real and not just an effect.

Playing wise it felt like playing a 12 string guitar: You have to press more than one string down etc.
It felt a bit weird at first but it was fun playing it.

I think it would be very usable in a trio band. You could fill a lot of sound space during guitar solos and what so ever with it.

And those Dean basses are quality instruments in general.
