sm5150 - I apologize for hijacking your thread.....I'll stop now.

How do you like the sound of your new 301? Mine sounds like a million bucks. Nice and spanky.

No problem! Its OK. Im totally sorry about your PGM, but yeah, the wait will be worth it! And yes! the sound... $9876859076759607!

and also, aldridt1, does your single PUP JEM look, 'not-as-white' as the body, or the PAF's?
It looks yellowed, and its bothering me!

The single coil on mine is definately a different shade of white....but it is only noticable in certain light.

I went to talk to the dealer today, but I will not know if they can send mine back for a few days. They are going to contact Ibanez.

Another curious difference between mine and your is that the middle piece of maple on mine's neck is flamed.

whats te serial number on yours? Mine is 0534227......

The middle pickup will appear a little different as it's a rubber cover and not plastic. The same color will appear different on the two because of the materials.
Mine is still white but you can tell the difference. If yours is greenish i would be wondering if it isn't from the Malmsteen Fender.
I know it's a fender but isn't the middle pickup or one of the others Dimarzio

ahh. i haven't seen one in person to play. Then his 301 may have one of Malmsteen's covers on it. Scientifically i would say that is how it happened....lol

Congrats man 8)

I want one too, I played 1 once and it was great... don't have the money though... I could sell my upgraded JEM 555, but I don't like selling guitars

btw, I was wondering... why is there a small black dot between the 2 dots on the 12th and 24th fret ?

Its just an additional dot inlay. Three dots instead of the traditional 2.

going off topic a little again -

I just got the word from my dealer that they will send mine back and get another one for me, if that's what I want to do....

It will prabably be a long and crappy wait, but I am going to send it back.

I have had it for exactly seven days.

Damn it. Just, Damn it!

There just is.

I think I remember someone asking the same question on the old PGM site. Someone asked Paul about it and I don't think he noticed it until it was pointed out to him.

Well, you have 1/4 notes, 1/8 notes and so on.......this is 1/128 note.

However, I just got an official reply from the man himself:

"I never noticed that before! I just picked up my PGM300 and saw the little dots on the 12th and 24th fret. Wow!"

Too cool 8)

But, I like the theory of the 1/128 note....let's stick with that.
