Post Re: PGM Models
Rich from Ibanez Rules confirmed in Jemsite that PGM401 is discontinued for 2012. That means that there won't be any f-holed RG as Paul signature next year (I don't think there's any other replacing It as a new model...). The end of an era?

THe 401 looks like old furniture anyway. I won't miss it :)

Who knows...maybe the PGM401 could be selected in future in a poll for a xx anniversary reissue!

I would personally find everyone who voted for that just so I could crap in their kettle. There are so many other PGMs that should get a reissue before the 401 (although I have to say I do love it).

That's the whole point of the 401. Shredding on something that looks like it shouldn't be shredded on.

I think it looks like a perfect shred axe. 24 tall, skinny frets, thin neck, fixed bridge...

Shame they're crazy expensive here in the UK though.

That's probably not what he meant by "look".

I don't see what you could mean by "look" other than what the guitar itself looks like... Unless he meant the finish?

A look is not defined by the few specifications you mentioned, is all I'm saying.

Well, it's in the most iconic shred shape ever IMO - the super strat/Ibanez RG. It's quite an aggressive looking guitar, tbh.

I agree that the RG shape is all shred, but the 401 is not defined by it's body shape, there are more features to it that take of that edge from the RG shape and soften it up to a more vintage looking image. The sunburst, the wood grain, the gold hardware and pup covers. I think it's more reserved than the shred image that you make it out to be, but that's just what I think of it.

It`s just a 300 that Paul "glamed up" in order to take some photos with Yngwie, for Young Guitar.

I believe the guitar was sold at some point.

I guess Ibanez really likes Paul's Fireman. It's just got a different finish and it's already a limited edition!
