Post bridge conversion
I'm really considering changing out the Edge Trem in my RG550. I just bought new pickups that are F Spaced.
I'm wondering about the Gotoh bridge and the spacing.
Has anyone measured the bridges? I think i seen that Gotoh has 2 different size bridges available. I'm just guessing one is regular spacing and the other might be F Spacing.

Has anyone ever really noticed the difference in the spacing when playing?

I don't know if i'm right, but i remember firerocker having a problem with different bridge spacings with his most recent guitar, something about the High e string partly off the neck? I can't remember if it was to do with the bridge spacing or it was to do with how he positioned the bridge.

Well.......got some bad news.........the Dimarzio's bridge has too wide of a string spacing.
The one that i need has to have a 2-1/16 string spacing, this bridge has a 2-3/32 string spacing. That is too wide. The E strings were on the very edge of the neck. I guess i will have to wait for the Gotoh  .

Oh well.

Hope this helps

The Gotoh GTC101 has 2 1/16" string spacing. F-spaced pickups line up fine.

http://www.bestguitarparts.com/guitar-p ... Bridge.htm

This is from the Dimarzio site.

"For proper string alignment and balanced output, F-spaced humbuckers should be used in the bridge position on all guitars with string spacing at the bridge of 2.1" (53 mm) or greater. On these guitars, if the nut width is 1-11/16" (43 mm) or greater, F-spaced pickups can be used in the neck position as well."

The GTC101 JasonK mentions is in fact the bridge used on hardtail PGM's, so it would absolutely work.

EXCELLENT GUYS

thanks
I was worried about spacing size going from the 301 to the converted guitar. Not that i wouldn't be able to live with it but i want my RG550 to play as closely to the 301 as possible.

Plus i'm glad i didn't just waste money on the F spaced Pickups.
