Post PGM-301 Fretboard Marker Question
I took a chance and ordered a 301. I wasn't immediately in love with it like my friend's JEM that i have here.
BUT, after playing it for a few days I can't believe i considered sending it back to SAMASH.

The punch and sustain is unbelieveable. I own mostly Floyd Rose equiped guitars but this thing is amazing.

Anyways......

Does anyone know why or what the reasoning is on the small dot between the 2 dots on the 12th and 24th fret? It's odd as i've never seen it done that way before.
Maybe it's a Paul Gilbert thing and if so that's good enough for me....HEHEHE

That's kinda what i was thinking.

Hopefully someday i'll get to meet him and i'll get the guitar Gilbertized with his Hancock and cartoon.

I heard it represents a 128th note, so it has been called the 128th note inlay

Well, you have 1/4 notes, 1/8 notes and so on.......this is 1/128 note.

However, I just got an official reply from the man himself:

"I never noticed that before! I just picked up my PGM300 and saw the little dots on the 12th and 24th fret. Wow!"

Too cool 8)

But, I like the theory of the 1/128 note....let's stick with that.

So Paul didn't have anything to do with the extra dots being installed on the fretboards? I wonder what possesed Ibanez to put them on there if Paul didn't request them? --Jason

That was from PAUL?

Too funny if so that he wouldn't have noticed. I bet he could find out what they're doing there with a phone call....lol.
