NGD - My custom built fireman
Well, after a very long long time of waiting, I am pleased to announce that my custom fireman has finally been built! Pictures as per below: You gents might remeber Jaden had a fireman body for sale on this forum about 9 months ago, well I purcased it (thanks Jaden!). Down here in Australia, I manged to secure Salvi's Fine Guitar's to lacquer the body and install the pickups. Whilst it took a very long time to actually get the finish done (apparently the wood soaks up the lacquer like water), the result was fantastic. And after a little bit of setup work and putting 10 guage instead of 9's (which is what the tech put on it intially), it plays like a dream. I couldn't be happier. When I finally get some time, I will get off my backside and put up some video of the tone etc. But long story short, I love it! My fireman dream is now complete!!!

That's awesome! I quite like the headstock with no logo!

Wow, looks very good and would love to hear how it sounds.
The only difficulty I see is what if you need to get to the electronics? Would you have to remove the pot knobs and pickguard?

It should be no different than the millions of other guitars (strats, RG's with pick guards.....) out there with electronics mounted to a pick guard. You shouldn't have to remove the knobs unless you wanted to remove the pots. If you unscrew the pick guard you should have access to the pickups, pots, switch, and output jack.

Ahh gotcha. I never took an old strat apart to be honest. Every guitar I've ever had was rear-access (insert joke here.)
I imagine it would suck to have to remove all those screws.

Re: NGD - My custom built fireman
Cheers guys, I'm chuffed. It's a great guitar to play, nice tone and the thick neck whilst takes a little while to get used to lets you bend those strings. It sounds bloody fantastic through my Marshall.
Dave, yes I wasn't sure how it would look with a plain wood headstock, but I wanted something original. In the end I was quite happy with it.
Sucks a bit that it's home and I can't play it because I'm at home in my day job, but I've got whole weekend ahead of me to get acquainted with it!
