Post Need help! PGM 300!
My PGM 300 has been my only guitar for more than six years.
It's nice but I needed versatility tone wise so I swapped out the pickups,
fixed the trem, and started using .10 strings on it.

Here's what I've put on my PGM 300

Neck PU: DMZ PAF 36th
Middle: DMZ Area 61
Bridge: DMZ D-sonic
Strings: Thomastik Power Brights 10-50
Trem fixed with: Tremol-No

The PAF 36th was to add warmth and juice to my neck sound
which I never had with PAF Pro. Area 61 was to replace handicapped FS-1,
and D-sonic to cover monster playing.
I use 10-50 strings and Tremol-No for drop tuning compatibility

I thought it's gonna turn out great.. but NO!
Tone sucks through my Blackheart BH5H + Orange PPC 112 cab

Here are the main problems:
1) The output gaps between D-sonic & PAF 36th drives my nuts
I did put a Keeley compressor but it just doesn't feel right.

2) Bridge sounding too upfront and harsh. It bites my ears to bleed
I don't know it's because of the D-sonic or the 10-50 strings or both.
Maybe it's the characteristic of basswood body / maple fretboard?

3) Neck hates to work with my Maxon OD820 (TS-808 based).
The mid hump knocks out my teeth every time I try to make a usable creamy sound.
(Bridge as well but I knew it's gonna be like this so I don't mind.)
Again, I don't know what's the cause of it... I assume it's the woods...

4) My blackstar HT-DistX sounds unfocused (too soft) with either the Neck or Bridge.
I've no idea what's going on.. I replaced the tube with a Tung-Sol already..

Maybe PGM300 for versatility isn't a good idea? If so what would you pick among PGM series?
Did I do something wrong without having good knowledge about Basswood/ Maple?
Any opinions are welcome.. Thanks!

have you tried lowering your bridge pickup/raising neck pickup to balance output between the two?

OK I've figured out it was the amp causing problems, after 3 days of monkeying...
Just turned the volume down a bit and now I'm in love with my rigs again! LOL
