Post FS: 1991 Ibanez PGM100 Paul Gilbert Signature
Greetings, all! Long time reader, first time poster.

I'm selling my PGM100 and thought someone here might be interested. I've sold on jemsite under ModernGuitarist, as well as the Kramer Forum and Harmony Central. I tried to sell this on e-bay and a new member used the Buy It Now, but then he never paid and unfortunately no one else could bid on it. So I'm trying to avoid the bay and I'm going to put it up for sale here.

Up for sale is this original 1991 Ibanez PGM100JB. It's in very good condition with just five noticable dings on the lower contour of the body where it sits on the lap. The original humbucker pickups were replaced with newer PAF Pros because the old ones went microphonic. I replaced the electronics plate with a different plate to preserve Paul Gilbert's signature. As you can see in one of the pictures, I still have the original electronics plate with his signature and will include it in the sale. The Edge trem is in excellent condition as you can see. There are no neck joint cracks and only limited wear on the headstock. There is one slight ding on the back of the neck, but while I can see it and feel it when I look for it, I don’t notice it when I play. The only other slight problem is that a previous owner took a sticker off the back of the body with a brillo pad and it dulled the finish as you can see. In the right light, it's barely even noticeable, but it is there. Otherwise, the face of the guitar is super clean and vibrant, which is what everyone sees anyway.

This is a great guitar, but I’m trying to thin my collection of signature models for right now. I tend to go back and forth on signature models. I’m only asking $950 shipped OBO. That's less than half of what you'd have to pay for one of the new Ibanez Reissues!

I'm really looking to sell, but will consider certain trade offers, particularly USA Jacksons or USA and/or J Custom Ibanez guitars. Also, I might be willing to trade for a less expensive guitar like an RG550 or 770, etc., plus cash. Please let me know if you have any questions! Item will be shipped using UPS Ground. Guitar will be shipped in a generic gig bag. I will ship worldwide, but extra shipping costs will have to be paid for by the buyer.

Welcome to the board!

Too bad eBay won't let you neg that deadbeat. It used to be that buyers had consequences for their actions - positive, neutral, or negative. eBay is a bit of a LOL anymore. I can totally understand why you'd want to avoid it.

To the board peeps, as a FYI, here are the 2 other listings for this guitar.

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f28/fs-19 ... 93505.html

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-PGM100-Paul- ... 13077080QQ

You didn't talk about how this guitar plays / the condition of all the "guts". Do you have "sound test posting" capabilities? I mean could you post up a little playability demo of the guitar in action?

Best of luck selling it - the price certainly is right.

Yep, price is yummy, but got no cash atm  Some sound demos would be really nice :D You've chosen the blue brigde pickup just as Paul Gilbert did or you just wanted it in blue  :?:

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I've enjoyed reading information here in the past and have also benefited from the guitar tabs and backing tracks posted here, so I'm glad to be a member now.

As requested, I quickly recorded a few demos of the PGM100 earlier this afternoon. Please keep in mind that I don't have a pro recording setup in any way. I merely recorded into my laptop's internal microphone onto Audacity, but at least this should give you all some idea that the guitar sounds great. For reference, I'm playing through a Carvin Legacy 2x12 Combo.

As for playability, it's a great shred machine. I've owned many Ibanez guitars over the years (including a PGM300) and this one is very similar to what you might expect. Thin and very fast neck. A fantastic Edge trem on this one. It really blazes with distortion and has a nice clean tone too, as you can hear in one of the sound clips. I did notice a slight bit of scratchiness when switching between bridge and neck pickups today, but nothing that concerned me.

To be honest, I haven't played it much at all recently, and so I just put new strings on and played it more today to record these audio files and it almost made me want to just keep it! But as I mentioned in my previous post, I'm trying to cut down on the signature models for now, which is why I would consider a partial trade plus cash for a similar guitar that is less money, like an RG550, etc.

Please let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Again, happy to be here!

I'd ship the guitar wrapped in bubble wrap inside of a generic gig bag, then in a UPS box with a bunch of padding. Otherwise, I can also ship the guitar in a very nice TKL hardshell case, but would ask for another $50 to cover the extra shipping charge because of weight, as well as the niceness of the case.

I would buy the electronics cover alone if you want to separate.

Thanks for the offer, though I'd prefer to keep it with the guitar to keep that part original, which will hopefully help with the sale.

Thanks.
My guitar has the covers but they weren't signed by PG.

I've had a bit of trouble with ebay. While it's still currently listed, I would happily end the auction early if a fellow forumer wanted to pay $880 shipped for it. Please let me know. That is way less than half of the price of the reissues!

What a great deal... anyone who's looking for a 100 should seriously consider this, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat if I could spare the money.
