Post NGD Ash PGM finally done
This is what happens when you get bored with your '99 PGM30.

Hard Ash body, rosewood inlaid F holes, SS frets, and converted to fixed bridge.

The body and neck were finished in Tru oil, and I dropped in that new Andy Timmons DiMarzio (AT-1) in the bridge along with a Humbucker from Hell (DP156) in the neck.

Wow, explain the process please, was this a pgm 30? That's almost impossible, at least for the body if I see the wood/ash stripes. Nice job!! proud of you :D

Thanks guys (gals)!

I have three custom PGMs going on, and several other things, so I have not gotten these finished in the time I would like.

I bought a MIJ PGM30 about two years ago cheap enough to filp on ebay or something, however the neck just felt great in my hands. I know it is just another Wizard neck, but something was just "special" about this one.

Anyway, I pulled the guitar apart and sold everything but the neck. I was not sure what I wanted to do with it, and in kicking around some ideas I figured a nice piece of Ash.

I knew I did not want to have painted F holes on Ash, or it would just look like another 800.

Chris Woods cut the body for me, and we came up with the idea of doing the F holes as inlay. Chris tried to use Ebony, but it would not make the forearm curve.

The first body Chris cut was not exactly the way I wanted it, so Chris sold it, and cut this one.

I refretted the neck with 6115 SS frets, veneered the headstock, plugged the lock nut holes, and finished everything in Tru Oil.

Jaden, I was thinking it was going to be very bright myself, but through my regular practice setup, it sounds really good. I will get a chance to run in through the Marshalls on Wed.

I want to thank my fellow Racer X forum bros for getting me the pics I needed of the 500 cavity cover.

All in all I am extremely pleased with how this one came out.

It'll be interesting how the HFH sounds in ash. To me, the ash headstock veneer is what totally sets the whole guitar off. --Jason

A matching headstock just looks classy to me. Once I find the damn truss rod cover I bought that is....

The pickups were a guess, but it sounds really good to my ears.

Two more to go, and I will be done with the PGM building.

That guitar looks great. IMHO one thing that could have made it a little cooler is if the Ibanez logo was inlayed rosewood to match the f-holes. But it still looks great as is.
