as stated before, scale length/number of frets are completely independant.

fenders (25.5") used to have (and some still do have) 21 frets. taylor 414ce guitars are 25.5 with 20 frets. if you go on warmoth's site, you can buy necks with extended fretboards to make your 22 fret strat 24 fret. and also there are a few gibson/epiphones that are 24.75 that have 24 frets (prophecy series, etc)

:)

With the right body wood and the right pickups, theres NO reason you can't get a SSS guitar with a thinner neck to sound fat. I mean you could compromise on the thickness of the neck and get somewhere in the middle, at that point there isn't going to be much wood difference to make a difference.

Keep in mind a fireman body has a lot of wood already compared to an RG, so its going to sound fatter regardless.

Curious Jaden, What woods were that SSS RG-type you made in that vid? I'm specing out an SSS RG myself.

pewterschmit,
I used hard ash wings for that SSS guitar with purpleheart and maple laminates for the middle.
its understandably - very bright !!!
sounds great but not thick enough for me.
