hmm I still wanna know what kinda figure you're looking at jaden for a fireman with a PGM style neck (rosewood)

I'm guessing you'll be using Korina for the body, is that cheaper or more expensive than basswood?

I have my fireman strap which has my name and fireman on it but no fireman :P

I'm guessing its still going to be uber expensive :(

I'm still trying to find the exact specs :P I'd like it all 100% the same (including pickups) aside from the neck.

If you could make an exact replica jaden with those requirements I'd buy it :)

I'm in the saving process again!

as with all these things the woodwork is the least expansive thing..

that body above is one im making for a customer and its to accomodate all RG parts and has 24 frets etc.

the SSS fireman is a 24.75" 22 fretter im sure...
anything is possible..

what would you consider uber expensive ?
I reckon youll be surprised, I sent you a quote a while back didnt I ?
check the breakdown, woodowrk is teh cheap bit ;)

Please check here for specs jaden

I'd like everything the same aside from the neck :)

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/news/f_pr ... pec01.html

I remember you sent me a quote for a swirled PGM and it was the swirl that made the price too high :)

You may want to save the pictures from that link to your pc too

They should be very helpful too you :)

As should these ones, scroll to the bottom

you do know that the main reason for the great sound is the huge neck, right?

Have you even tried playing a fat neck? It's not harder to play, just a bit different

thanks guys,
this one is a straight swap over for RG parts and is just a test cutter.

I may even keep it for myself ;)
I know ive got a couple of spare edge trems kicking around...

That's really cool, Jaden!
Is there any figure in the korina you're using? Paul's had a little bit of figure and the one they photographed for the Ibanez site definitely has some curl.
Did the sawdust give you any health or safety issues?
Or will that be a problem when you make the neck. (the bubinga and all.)

pretty close volkan,
I made this test body from some Lime (pretty much basswood) I had laying around spare.

the korina I have is very similar to Pauls guitar in colour etc but I cant tell if it has any figure right now, its still in sawn plank form, sometimes you get lucky and stuff will have some figure but the guys at the timber yard are too good at spotting that stuff, even though its asawn and putting it aside for a large portion of upcarge

I have a bucket load of necks on the production line right now so I might pair it up and flog it for bargain basement cost.. we shall see..

as regards to the korina sawdust, the stuff isnt poisonous as such, like any other hardwood its an irritant and has a certain level of toxicity, rosewood and ebony are classic for getting you all itchy and sneezy, rosewood makes my skin itch as soon as I start to cut or sand it, korina is nowhere near as bad as the exotics.
and like any other hardwood, you get enough in your lungs and they dont work too good ;)

a lot of people think that korina is poisonous and that's why gibson stopped using it but it's just a myth. read that in an interview with paul reed smith
