Hey, i bought a mesa dual rectifier roadster halfstack and now i have no money. :( I am also moving to new york now and figured i would just
keep it for later. But now, i want the new pgm reissue (whichever one is
chosen) and im thinkin about selling it and getting the new pgm. and the mesa is not even a month old. Please Help!

You don't have to make an immediate decision.

We won't even know what the reissue is going to be until April. You might not want what is chosen. There is always the (very small) possibility that something like the 300 or 301 could be reissued and IMO they would not be worth the reissue price. Another possibility is the reissue is something like the 700 and costs more money than you have available.

If you really don't want the amp sell it. If not I would wait until the reissue is announced.

lol why did you get such a powerful amp then :P ?

I've heard that it's a phenomenal amp, think before you sell!

I've heard mesa's don't sound good until they are cranked a bit but i dunno. Maybe try looking into some heads that sound decent at low volumes? I've heard Engl's are good at low volumes, but obviously sound better cranked like all tube amps

Unless you are lucky you probably won't get all 3K back when you sell it.

You might be able to get by with an attenuator. I have a single recto half stack in my apartment and use it with a hot plate. A lower power amp would be a better choice though, thats why I want a MarkV which can be run at 10, 45, or 90 watts.

Engl screamer? Cheapish, small, versatile and is meant to sound good at low volumes.

This is going form what others have said though so please don't take my word for it, go try one!

You'd also have a big chunk if not all money for the PGM i think

Engls are hard to find and kind of expensive in the US.

You probably would have the same problem with the rectoverb that you have with the roadster. 50 watts is probably too much for your apartment. If the express meets your needs tone wise it probably would be a good option.

Ant, I think you have an ENGL fixation

have you actually played that ENGL ?

I know its a very subjective arguement but I thought it was a very expensive paperweight ;)

Esharp - you will mis that mesa come gig time ;)
is there another way around this ?

I am actually thinkin about the new mark V and I will be able to get the 3k
back if i get another so i think ill look at the mark V combo and see
if i like it, this will be with me for many years. If its reliable which all mesas are.

a cheaper and still very cool option would be the carvin V3 combo - then you could buy the PGM with the spare cash - the V3 combo was only about $1200 last time I checked..

If they reissue the 800, or 500 they would probably cost around the same as the 100RE. The 200 might fall into that range or possibly more. The 400 might be slightly more. I think the 700 and 600 would probably cost more.

Personally depending on what model gets reissued I would consider getting 2 used PGM's instead of a reissue. I got many of my PGM's for under 1K.

I got my PGM's from various places. I got 1 from MAE gutiars, 2 off ebay, 1 from ishibashi music in japan, and a few from racer x board members. If you are patient enough pretty much any model can be found. They all come up eventually its just a matter of having the funds ready when they do.

If you really want a reissue by all means go for it. Personally I don't think all of the older models are going to be worth what probably will be pretty high reissue prices. I wouldn't pay 2K for most of the models considering you can find many of them used for around half that. There are only a few models i would be tempted to get if reissued, the 600, 800, and if I didn't already have them the 700 and 200.
