I'm agreeing with you Eric :P

I don't wanna see bright colors, I'd rather see the 800

Unless you were being sarcastic :P ?

Haha man I don't know how to explain it, you got both of us wrong. We both think to call people "bright color fanboys" is a dumb statement. Personally I like the bright colors, but I also LOVE the fireman and I voted for the 800 on that poll. I would like to see the orange PGM released or 800 reissued. But if the 200 was reissued I would most likely try my best to buy it.

So i'm not a 'fanboy'. But I do own a PGM100. So enough of that 'vintage fanboy'!

haha I've read through it all and i understand now, i originally thought you were quoting yourself!

I'm going to hold back for a few months, save up and either get a (Already have £800)

PGM Reissue (As voted)
PGM401 - THERE I SAID IT, SHOOT ME DOWN! :(

I'd really like a guitar with a Tone Zone though! My 301 has the pafs and the 401 has Air classics

I really don't think I would be able to make the 401 sound good.. Air Classics are classified as 'Vintage Output' on dimarzios website... low output. Not right for me.

I'm sure your amp would help lots! From my experience so far with pickups

Bareknuckle/Seymour Duncan/EMG/Dimarzio

I'll take low/medium output over high output any day

You can hear the Air classics in this video

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cDXJLmSc06w

I found the EMG's and BKP's had no clarity within the notes, just a heavy metal mess withdrawing character from my tone and fingers.

You say Paul used the PGM401 at Namm, what songs did he play with it?

Part of it will depend on your amp. I personally love PAF style pickups. If I need more output I turn on my clean boost or an overdrive pedal.

Yeah I also dig the medium output pickups. But I'm kind of wanting to try some high output pickups..

I meant no offence, as alas, I'm a Bright color fanboy

I am also a sunburst fanboy. And sometimes I need to classy it up a bit!

The Air Classics are excellent pickups, low/med output pickups stay really really clear when the distortions cranked. You may need to bump the gain a bit on your normal settings, but your picking and tone stays clear and articulate

Paul Gilbert, a longstanding Ibanez endorser, submitted the plans for his new custom guitar to the Ibanez L.A. Custom Shop in 2007.

For this particular model, Paul took a stock photo of the Ibanez "Iceman" model and turned it upside down using image editing software.
He then tweaked the design further, for better playability and balance. This model was to be a radical departure from any of his previous signature models. Soon after Paul received the finished guitar, it quickly made its way on to recordings and stages all over the world.
It was originally called the "Reverse Iceman", but soon took on the nickname of "Fireman" due to its opposite nature to the "Iceman".

In 2008, the Paul Gilbert "Fireman" quickly became a hot topic among fans, creating demand for a production version.

In 2009, Ibanez decided to release a limited number of "Fireman" guitars in tribute to Paul's adventurous creation.

I think he probably submitted the plans earlier. He played the one with 2 humbuckers live mid January 2009. The one that became the FRM1 came later, so maybe that one was submitted in 2007.

I didn't know they were releasing both the SSS, and HH configurations.

On the japanese website they list the FRM-1 and FRM-2 http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/news/f_pr ... index.html
