That price is ridiculous. Thomann are usually at leats 50% more expensive than anyone else though. I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.

I won't get one. Same reason as I wrote in the other thread.

Maybe you guys are forgetting something...

Ash body will immediately raise the price.
Paul's commercial success with G3 has made him more well known than ever before so naturally Ibanez is going to increase the price on this one. I think that's maybe the reason the PGM was so cheap in the first place. Even if it was very similar to a standard RG.

Not to mention... it's to celebrate Paul's 20th anniversary with Ibanez.

Oh well.

Looks awesome though. 8)

It was a spot-and-stalk situation between that vendor and the original blogger. I removed all my info. out of respect to Paul.

I think it was a mistake on Thomann's part to post this guitar online right now. I think most dealers won't post info online till after the model is
unveiled at the NAMM show in January.

I don't think its the first time this has happened. I think I remember thomann posting info on an upcoming model a few weeks early before.

I don't think its a problem posting the info here.

Its not the model I wanted to see, but there are plenty of others here that really wanted that model to be released. I'll still probably pick one up at some point, but I don't have the funds at the moment.

How is the price high? I thought all signature guitars were over $2000 USD new. Maybe it's the VAT that all your Europeans are so unlucky to have to pay.

No it's not the VAT.

The PGM301 is around £700-800 here and always has been.

Now the 401 is over £1,500.

I agree, have slept on it, and removed my info.

My question is this... is it disrespectful to post or distribute the information?

No, it's Thomann's fault.

Exhibit A) http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_jem7_vwh_steve_vai.htm

Exhibit B) http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_american_standard_strat_mn_ow.htm

Etc. etc.

Judging by what Ive seen, Thomann is on average about £200 more expensive for decent guitars, so the 401 could well be £1200, which is a lot, but more reasonable for a well made guitar with an ash body as pgmpower stated.

I don't think its disrespectful to post the info here. The information has already been leaked. There is no easy way to fix that now the damage has been done.

All this does is take some excitement out of the official unveiling by Ibanez at NAMM. On this board we already have confirmation that at least a few Fireman guitars will be made, and now the 401. Maybe they still have something special still up their sleeves for the 20th anniversary of the PGM.

Thomann probably will keep the info up unless Ibanez tells them to take it down. If they take it down its your call if you want to do the same.

I don't think its that bad, but i would prefer to see it in a different finish. Material wise its similar to an 800 which I think is great. Of course it is missing the middle pickup, and the old neck profile. The lack of a middle pickup doesn't bug me, I love my 900 and 700 and they don't have a single coil. I'm undecided on the new neck profile though.
