Post Pgm301 pickup troubles
Hey guys, just got my pgm301 a couple of days ago, and i love it. but i couldnt help but notice that whenever i select my middle single coil, or any combo with it, the volume cuts in half and buzzes when played. Im not that good with the technical aspect of guitars but is that normal? :?

Hi There  Nice to hear, that you got a PGM kinda guitar, they are really awesome ones  Well. I think you shouldnt worry too much. As Paul Gilbert has somewhere said; "the reason why it's called a humbucker is because it bucks the hum  " so when you turn the Single Coil it starts to be a lil noisy

yeah, the buzz is barely noticable anyway, but is the drastic volume cut normal?

There should be a drop in volume. It is quite noticeable, but shouldn't be too drastic. The single coil or any combination using it is lower in output than the humbuckers. I only use it to get a good clean tone.

Maybe the single coil is too far from the strings or something making it quieter than normal.

Its actually intended to be that way. The mid pup isnt really supposed to be used on its own (although it can be of course.)

The mid pickup is wired at a lot lower output than the humbuckers so that you get a cleaned up twangy kinda sound when you use it on out of phase. You can hear Paul using it quite often for his characteristic tone.

It's also much further from the strings compared to the humsuckits.

Further away = less volume.
I has same jeetarr.
Same sing u see:)

Thats one of the best things about the PGM: the versatility you can get out with the single-coil selections.

You can really get out some great tone with that little switch!
